Please let me know which high way is faster to down town, Highway 183 (aka West Airport Fwy) or Highway 75 during rush hours?

I am comparing the following addresses, please let me know the estimated time to get to downtown Dallas during rush hour:

1) Summer Tree Apartments for Rent | Apartment Finder (http://www.apartmentfinder.com/Texas/Dallas-Apartments/Summer-Tree-Apartments - broken link)

2) Indigo on Forest Apartments for Rent | Apartment Finder

3) Lakeview Apartment Homes Apartments for Rent | Apartment Finder (http://www.apartmentfinder.com/Texas/Irving-Apartments/Lakeview-Apartment-Homes-Apartments - broken link)

You must mean Texas State Highway 183 and U.S. Route 75.

I am sure those are the ones I am referring to; I am not from Dallas.

75 is no where near those apartments.

You would take 183 to 114 into dowtown. 114 merges with I-35 South, which takes you right into downtown.

Or depending on where you are on 183, it may be faster to take 183 South to I-30 East into downtown.

The first one, Summer Tree Apartment is right on 75. No?

Looks like Summer Tree is at the High 5 - scary close to the mess of low income apartments near Spring Valley and Coit.

Low Income?

What if it's gated? Would that eliminate most of the problems?

Well, when I say Spring Valley and Coit what I really mean is all along Spring Valley between Coit and Hwy 75 and the ones along Maham Road - a sea of crime that comes along with densely packed cheap old apartments. The actual intersection is all hispanic retail - awesome shopping if you like Mexican grocery stores. I go there frequently. Those apartments are right up against the High 5 (are you local? Have you seen the High 5 - do you like the sound of traffic?) and slightly away from the bad area. The complex is near a couple of hotels and offices - one mid rise office. Have you been over there? Take a drive on Maham - the mess is probably far enough away, but check it out.

I personally have never thought gates make a difference when it comes to apartment living. My 2nd peeping tom was in a gated complex (near Walnut and Audelia) and he lived in the complex and it wasn't the complex's only certifiable peeping tom.

Well, with the gate, at least my car will be left alone.

Not really. In older complexes like that one, gates are often broken or there is an easy code (like 911*) that is common knowledge. And in that neighborhood, your neighbors (or their guests) could be the ones breaking into your car. Sketchy neighborhood- big pocket of crime in N Dallas.

If you're looking for cheap rent, you're better off in one of the older complexes in The Village apartments off 75 & Lovers Lane. Closer to downtown and safer overall neighborhood.

Sorry about my first post- I only looked at one of the apts and assumed you were looking in that general area vs several locations.
