Though after finding some research concerning the TxDot killway highway looping around the town; I am beginning to wonder if Wide Awake Wylie, shouldn't be Why we lie... Wylie. Private endeavors are not looking good for people in Wylie, and for every one that lives there now on the other side of the tracks please go to to surrounding public meetings there is one in Fairview because you probably wont find any in Wylie, but yet that executive summary sounds mighty strange with deadly consequences. Check out Collin County website for the date... Its at the lovejoy school on 1378. Anybody know eminent domain? thats where its heading if we dont stand up together!

Good luck with your new life in Tracy, CA. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and went to college in Stockton (for those of you who don't know, Stockton is a nearby city to Tracy) and I know Tracy very well. Hopefully you like Tracy more than you liked Wylie.

P.S. The KKK's Northern CA branch meets in Tracy.
Northern California Klan meeting! - Stormfront

Have yet to find any information of KKK meetings in Wylie (or anywhere near).
JEEZ! Talk about an EPIC PWNING!

I moved from Garland which is only a few miles away so needless to say I've been in the area for over 30 years. I must say that though the OP did have an unusual story for this day and age, if it happened anywhere in North Texas, it would be in Wylie.

Things are changing in Wylie (more minorities moving in over the last several years) because 10 years ago it was almost all white. The old "keep it white" mentality is alive and well with those who have spent their entire lives here - likely because that is how they were brought up.

The point is that Wylie has always been a traditionally Caucasian town. Many people liked it that way and aren't too happy with the influx. I imagine racial tensions are easing at the High School with there being more Blacks and Hispanics enrolled because 7 years ago when I moved to Wylie there were only a couple Black students in the whole school.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the citizens of Wylie are all racists, but there is an unspoken bond if you are White. Rebut if you will - you can't argue that the Census of 2000 clearly demonstrates the lack of racial diversity only 10 short years ago.

Ever seen a Black Principal, Police Officer, Fire Fighter in Wylie?

Wylieguy, are you blind? or just ignorant? Wylie PD has a black officer. I know cause he has stopped me several times. Also the principle of my son's middle school is definately not caucasion....... Your screen name is Wylieguy but i really don't think you have ever even been to Wylie.

As a Murphy citizen on the line of Wylie and proud parent of WISD students, I think this thread is total BS. Sad that it has had over 8000 views and so much attention.

Do we not have a moderator that can kill threads like this? Why do you let this get out of hand like this? The moving to Stacy dude needs to be banned from posting.

My personal belief is that maybe there is some conspiracy to scare people away so that Wylie can stay small town, low traffic and low COL, affordable housing.

I don't know any racists in Wylie. I have seen quite the opposite. Tremendous racial diversity and racial communities embracing differences. ESPECIALLY where it really counts to me and is most apparent to me - among the students in the schools here.

This is a ridiculous thread. Obviously, some people are unemployed with nothing better to do.

No but that does seem to be a growing trend, exceptionaly in wylie, doesnt it? Many actors surrounding us develop a rather intricate scheme of setting our kids up for failure later in life in both work and play; everyone needs to quit living a illusion and face reality. There is two sides to every story.... is that coherent enough for you? An interesting quote, the fool or fanatic will shut his eyes and pretend all is right, but the wise and prudent ill calmy questiosn the desires of the past to reform to forma judgement of the futue.

Default Thanks to the OP

I thank the OP for giving many of us the knowledge about these towns. I have been considering a move to Texas after graduate school and I wanted to avoid the major cities (Dallas and Houston). I wanted something smaller and safer. I am, however, in an interracial relationship and I have very smart and sensitive African American daughters. I do not want overt racism to affect how they view themselves, nor do I want my relationship being the focal point of hate mongers days. It is posts like this one that the OP started that help me to make an informed decision about where to start anew. Thanks!!!

That's nice...except that the OP is wrong about Wylie. I am in an interracial marriage and have been living in Wylie since 2009. No issues at all.
