Default Young Family - Searching for apartment/condo by DART

Hi,

Just got a job in Dallas and will have to move in the next few weeks. I will be working right downtown just a couple blocks from the Akard DART stop.

My wife (and baby) and I want to move to a condo/house/apartment within walking distance of a DART station, but don't want to end up living in a scary neighborhood. So far the apartments in the Village MyVillageApts.com
seem to be our leading candidates.

Looking for something no more than 1000 (unless it's real nice) by the DART and in a neighborhood where I feel comfortable leaving my wife and daughter at home. I know that limits options, but it's what we're working with at the moment.

Any ideas of suggestions would be helpful.

Do you want your apartment to be a short walking distance to a DART station? The Village Apts. are safe and well located, but the closest DART stations would be Lovers Ln. or Park Ln. Both of these would be a schlep, especially in this heat. You might want to consider the area around Baylor Hospital which is just east of Downtown. There is a new complex right next to the Baylor Hospital Dart station. I'm sorry that I can't recall the name of it, but it looks very nice. Perhaps someone else here will know???

I found it. It's the Broadstone Ambrose. I have no idea how much the rent is, but it might fit your needs. Broadstone Ambrose

There are nice apartments at the Galatyn Station in Richardson and the downtown Plano station and at Mockingbird Station in Dallas. I would not live in The Village if the purpose is to use DART. Too far.

I think you should consider the new development called Brick Row at Spring Valley Station. It has been under construction and I was thinking that you may want to look into any special deals they might be offering for the first occupants. It's worth a look.

Mockingbird Station is nice.

West Village near Cityplace Station is worth a look as well.

I would look at the Marquis on Gaston too. Apartments Luxury Downtown Dallas - Marquis on Gaston - Dallas, TX 75226

Its not as nice, but far more affordable than Ambrose. I live about a block away, its not a bad neighborhood. You could walk to work on a cool day or pick up the green line at the adjacent Deep Ellum station.

Thanks for the replies so far. I've been knee-deep in apartment/condo searching lately. Found the perfect one only to have it be taken down as already taken right after I contacted the realtor.

You could also consider places along the Green Line, which opens in December. But you'd have to wait for a few months. Your best luck will be along the Red Line though, which has many more options.

What about something on a DART bus line; that would give you even more options?
