Hello!! I am a single mom of 4 and I am having trouble finding a church close to home. I am looking for a church that offers a contemporary service that includes the sermon given in layman terms, welcomes casual attire, and has a good youth ministry (for children as well as teens). The last church I went to that I found offered these things plus more was in Tyler and making that drive gets old after a while. Can anyone help me find a good church for my family???

Lake Pointe in Rockwall is huge, isn't that far from you and meets those requirements. They also have a campus in Mesquite close to Town East (just east of Academy Sports, behind Target).

FlopsyPrice, given your location in South Garland, you might consider Peace Ministries at Belt Line and Tripp Road in Mesquite (between 30 and 80). I used to go there in the late 90s, and from what I've heard it's still very much a lively spirit-filled church...

No we haven't. We have visited several churches but hVdnt found one we would like to call home yet. ;(

I know you aren't the OP, and I don't think you've told us where you live. Might help with your search. For those in the Garland and Rowlett area, Firewheel Bible Fellowship on Castle Drive near the Garland/Rowlett border fits the description requested in the OP.

Sorry I didn't look back here for a long time.
I am still looking. Many good churches in the area, but we are still having a hard time finding a good one to connect to. Nothing closer, which we would really prefer and a few that were interesting blast the music way too loud.
We may check out the Firewheel one mentioned above however.

We have recently become pretty active in this church. It is growing pretty fast and we have members of all ages and races. The pastor is pretty young but he is entertaining and quite brilliant when it comes to teaching the bible. The music is fantastic. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

We may check it out Sunday. Unfortunately I think most who attend church today want loud music and don't even notice that any more. My ears and stomach do though and it makes it challenging for me.

Or not. I finally found their doctrine page. Kind of funny that so many churches that have "Bible" in their name don't believe parts of it. (They arbitrarily decide some Gifts of the Spirit vanished after the founding Apostles, without the Biblical evidence for such.
I am back looking it seems.
I am not going to spend time at a church that doesn't believe all the Scriptures. Others may like it though and I expect it is popular.
