Hi,

I am wondering, are there companies out there who we can hire to water our house foundation regularly?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some black rubber soaker hoses. Put them around the perimeter of your foundation. Turn them on for 2 hours 3 times a week. Problem solved.

If you call around I am sure you would find someone to do this work, although I don't know of any company that has decided to offer that service. If you find someone they most likely will charge you an "Arm and a leg" for such thing.

As ChristieP noted just use soaker hoses yourself. I will add also that if you spend a little extra you can buy battery operated timers to attach to the hose bibs (faucets). You can set these for appropriate times after dark (the preferred watering time) so you do not manually have to turn hoses on and off.

If you buy timers then buy the ones that have multiple time set points and durations. Our clay soils here can only absorb about 1/16" of water per hour. With multiple set point timers you can run 2 or 3 watering times for each night for about 30 or more minutes each run. That will give the soil some time between runs to absorb the water instead of just running off.

It sounds as if you do not have a sprinkler system installed? If not, and if you have flower beds or plantings away from the home then here is an added option. The timers also can be purchased with multiple control valves on them as well. You can set one valve, and outlet, for the foundation and one or more others for the distant flower beds, trees, etc. Of course you would need to run solid hose from the timer to where the distant soaker hoses need to start.

You can buy these timers and soaker hoses at Home Depot or Lowes.

Good luck and get that foundation watering going as this heat can cause problems!
