What kind of snakes, bugs, and creepy crawlies are we going to run into in Dallas/Richardson? Anything venemous that we need to prepare the kids to avoid?

The most venomous thing I saw while there are Black Widows. Now we also had a centipede or millipede once and my husband says some or one of those are dangerous (sorry having a brain fart now), and otherwise just occasional wasps/bees. The only bugs that really bothered me were when we lived in Little Elm and had a lot of flies for some reason one summer/spring. He does spray for bugs.

Oh yeah FIRE ANTS. Those you have to watch out for and definitely show the kids. My sister sat in a pile of red ants once and it wasn't purty.

Default Fire ants

My husband is deathly allergic to fire ants and bees. Guess we will have to watch for those.

Thanks much!

What about snakes? Any of those around to worry about?

I know there are snakes in Texas, but I have never (knock on wood) run into any even camping. It's weird because I ran into more when I lived in SoCal and wasn't camping.

Don't get me wrong there are not like *more bees* in Texas in my experience than anywhere else I lived as an adult (SoCal, Louisiana and Georgia) it's just something I noticed...and there were definitely as many problems with fire ants in Louisiana.
