I work at a nice tall building in downtown Dallas. Initially, I expect people working there in a nice building like that (nice offices and all) to be well dressed and professionally looking. I was wrong!

Some of them look like they came straight out of a rap video.

Am I expecting a little too much or is that pretty much the same everywhere in the country?

I work in a high rise and I wear jeans and a t-shirt. I spend a lot of my time traveling overseas for work and I have to dress up then.

It's pretty much normal, you're expecting too much depending on the position. If you're executive or high level management than you're expected to dress business professional, most other jobs (paper pushers) can dress pretty much normal, not ghetto though.

When you said "normal" do you mean business casual normal or going to grab some milk at the local gas station normal?

I don't understand what this means. Are they wearing gold chains and bling? I work in a high-rise downtown and I honestly don't know what you mean. Some people are most casual than others, but I don't see people wearing bling.

I'm not understanding this either, but it's a funny visual! Execs and office workers with thick gold chains and their pants falling down. Tee hee!
To the OP, I guess I'd say business casual is what my dh wears- nice polo shirt, khaki type pants, nice shoes (no sneakers).

Sometimes, they are individuals, sometimes, two of them and sometimes, they are in groups, like they just walked out of the rap video set.

I went through round and round of interviews after years of higher education and professional experience to get a job at one of the employers at this building. I wonder how they do it? Dressing and acting the way they do, I will not last more than minutes at the initial interview.
