Business wise... San Antonio is presently better off than Dallas. I do business with home builders in both areas and the business climate in San Antonio appears to be healthier. Toyota has a big assembly plant building Tundras and they have been hiring on and ramping up. There are several military medical facilities who unfortunately are being kept busy. I've had several Dallas area custom home builders move to San Antonio for the better business climate.

Recreation wise it's San Antonio again. Simply look at a map of the State Parks in Texas. San Antonio is surrounded by them. Due to the geological make-up, the water in their lakes are not muddy.

Culturally- It's pretty much Hispanic. I think there are as many Spanish speaking radio stations there as there are English. However, it is the "Tex-Mex Capitol of Texas" which is a very good thing.

I would agree that home builders would do better down here and there are a lot of opportunities in that industry sector. However, besides that, it is pretty much military, medical, and general construction.

It is what it is and San Antonio is a predominately blue-collar town compared to Dallas.

career-wise I would vote Dallas all the way..It's a giant (I mean GIANT) business center, and a major hub.

I recommend DFW area. I had the easiest time adjusting because of all the friendly people when I moved here a year ago. I was surprised, after moving here, how much of a neighborhood feel you can have and still live near everything. I live in the mid-cities area. There are places you could live near the city and still have the country feel. Do your research on the different towns and you will find something you are very happy with. Each town has its own pros/cons and cost of living. Good luck!!

We have lived in DFW since 1970 and have seen it grow tremendously. We have often visited San Antonio and have decided we don't need to go back,,for any reason. Austin and DFW are the best choices for work, lifestyle children.

I have lived in Dallas most of my life after traveling throughout most of childhood around the country. I have a sister that lives in Bandera right outside of San Antonio and runs a successful home inspection business there. San Antonio is definitely a great place for outdoor activity. The Hill Country is beautiful there and it's especially attractive to hunters with the enormous deer population and hunting ranches nearby. My sister has noted a trend towards middle to upper class Mexican and South American citizens moving to the area to escape the drug violence south of the border. I would think if that were the case that might break up that old boy attitude in their business climate. However, Dallas is definitely much more urbane and offers a much wider range of opportunity to a new business owner. Also, there is a pretty wide variety of living options when buying or renting here. And there are a number of lakes within an extremely short drive anywhere in the metro area - Lake Grapevine, Joe Pool Lake, Lake Ray Hubbard, White Rock(no swimming here), Lake Lewisville, Mountain Creek Lake, and Lake Lavon.

Ziggy, if you decide to go to Dallas and need employees, let me know I also want to relocate to Dallas from Florida and I am looking for a job

Just wanted to give everyone an update. We decided to go with Dallas. We had a better job offer there, and Dallas just seemed to fit for us. Thank you to everyone for your input and suggestions/advice! I appreciate it! I know if we would've picked SA, we would've been just as happy! But for now, Dallas is our new home.
