which ever is closer to your work. Have you also considered Allen and McKinney?

The schools are good in most of Collin County. Plano's are top-notch -- well financed and well managed by a very smart superintendent.

You probably will get more house for the money in Frisco.

BOth districts are good, but they have very different models. Plano has three HUGE high schools (graduating classes of 1000+ students per school), whereas Frisco made a conscious effort to have smaller schools and more high schools (avg 400-550 per graduating class). Just depends on personal preference and your kid- will she be intimidated entering a huge school as a new student? or is she outgoing & able to rise to the top & find a way to fit in?

In addition to the well made points about school size, from a real estate investment point of view, Plano is going to be better than Frisco in most cases with a few exceptions.

I see a lot of Plano people holding on to a city that is on a downhill run. Frisco is the place to be and if people are telling you different they are just mad that they didn't choose Frisco. Frisco has Great schools, Stonebriar Mall, Pizza Hut Park, Dr. Pepper Stadium, Convention Center, etc.. Drive through Plano and then drive through Frisco and see the difference. Frisco is much cleaner and safer than Plano. I like Plano but its on the downside and only living on a reputation that was created 20 years ago.

There's your first problem. You have to first drive through Plano to get to Frisco.

???? I rejected Frisco twice - as a relo and as an upgrader - and I'm not mad about it. It just wasn't for me. Specifically, I found the schools lacking in opportunity for very high academic achievers, something Plano ISD is particularly good at. Why would I want my son to attend a school where he'll likely be one of 3 or 4 NMSFs, when he can attend one where he'll be one of 30 or 40?

Frisco only exist because of the success of Plano. Frisco is simply the newest of the northern burbs. For me location of job and size of school would be the big deciding factors for me. There are no huge differences between the two. Housing would be cheaper in Frisco but the resell will not be as good as it would be in Plano.

both are fine towns but plano has competitive schools, located closer to dallas and has better resale so people prefer it over frisco and other suburbs. if money is short, commute or schooling aren't major issues or new drywall is a must have than look into frisco, allen etc. all of these towns are ok.

I predicted this would eventually happen to Plano, 20 years ago considered the crown jewel of the North Texas area, but now an older city with increasing minority population (considered the kiss of death by most out of state transplants), newer, shinier Frisco right next door...yep hi, Plano, welcolme to the washed up rejects club, meet your new neigbours, Richardson, Garland and Mesquite! take a seat.
