Me again

I am looking for some INEXPENSIVE furniture places to shop. We are leasing a home, and I do not want to spend too much but do need a few things.

I have looked on Craig's list but am not big on used couches or mattresses (two of the items I am looking for).

Thank you in advance!

You can't really beat IKEA if you're looking for inexpensive furniture. They have everything you could imagine. Otherwise, try to find the warehouses for the larger furniture stores in the area. They often have very good deals on discontinued items or pieces with small blemishes. There are many of these warehouses across the Metroplex.

I like Bassett and they are having a sale this weekend.

All stores have a back room, scratch & dent section. That's where I'd start for something new.

Basically, it means I can't remember where all the ones are that I've visited before and I hope someone else can help me out with some suggestions.

I do know that there were a couple in Carrollton I visited. I think the Weir's on Knox has one behind their store as well, but I'm not sure about that. It's been a while. Hopefully someone else can give you some more detail.

Weir's has a clearance center on Buena Vista - behind the corner of Armstrong and Travis (which is off Knox St). I recently bought a mattress there for my teenage son who was tired of futons. They have many price levels - starting in the low 200s.

LOL @ Big Lots. We bought the furniture in our upstairs game room there. It really is pretty nice and HEAVY!!!

We just bought my daughters queen sleigh bed, dresser and mattress set at Baker's in downtown Garland. For the Simmons Beautyrest mattress and box springs it was $499 and this child is PICKY when it comes to mattresses (she wanted Temperpedic ).

The Weir's in Plano also has a "chip and dent" section upstairs. I LOOOOOOVE Weir's. Most of our furniture came from Weir's, Baker's or Glen's Furniture in Broken Bow, OK.

There are several furniture warehouses in North Dallas right off of LBJ 6-35 at Midway going North. I can't remember who all is back there but it is "buyer beware". Some times the deals are not that great and some of it is scratched or damaged. If you watch you can get better deals at Weir's or Baker's on stuff that is not damaged.

Also look up IBB, they provide furniture to several builders model homes and I'm on their email list for their "sales". Some of the prices are REALLY REALLY cheap but you have to be there EARLY to get the best deals and there are hordes of people making "stock piles" as well. They take a "look out" to "hold" what they are wanting (basically stand over it). If you do go to these sales do not judge Dallas people based on the behavior you see there
