Any foodies familiar with Thai cooking?
I am going to attempt to make Mee Krob. The problem is I can't find a couple of key ingredients. I would just run up to Central Market but I'm not sure they would carry it. Anyways, I'm looking for Kaffir Limes, Kaffir Lime leaves, Palm Sugar, and either Tamarind Paste or Tamarind Juice.

You may need to find an Asian food market. I think there are a few of them in Richardson.

If your cooking fizzles, go to the Thairiffic restaurant in the old Webbs Chapel shopping center. Great Thai food. Hottest grapow shrimp I have ever had!! And I go to lots of Thai restaurants in Honolulu.

Did you ever make your mee krob, Mary?
I got kaffir lime leaves at CM, but I had to ask for them and then they were free because they didn't know what to charge me!
Two of the Asian markets (Chinese) that I've been to in Richardson didn't carry Thai ingredients like kaffir lime, but my friend Sammi brought me a bunch from a different one... I think it was Hong Kong Supermarket in East Richardson. I put them in the freezer for the next batch of Tom Yum Goong.
How'd you do on finding all your ingredients?

I found everything but the limes, and the leaves. There is a Vietnamese store near where I live that went to. I picked up something labeled lime leaves, but they weren't double leaves so they may not have been the right thing. After much searching through the store I found the palm sugar, I think I have enough to last the rest of my life.
I did make my Mee Krob, it was pretty good, though next time I may thin the sauce out a bit. It was a lot of fun to make the crispy rice noodles.

Glad it went well.
I'd try Hong Kong Supermarket next time, I believe it's on Walnut and Audelia.
My friend swears by it. Or, like I said, try Central Market but you'll most likely have to ask for the produce manager. I've never seen kaffir limes, just the leaves, but my soup tastes as good as the restaurant (I'm so modest) even though I use regular limes. I think it's the fresh leaves that are key.
Now I know who to call if I need to borrow a cup of palm sugar.
