Hi,

I am trying to be proactive and see if there might be any apartments in the up-town area that may be looking for some part time work in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, or anything business wise. - In exchange for a paid 1 bed room apartment.

I want to live in this area, but at the same time don't see the point of blowing 12K a year with no return on the money.

Any feedback on a possible opportunity will be greatly appreciated.

Here's some feedback: no one on this board owns apartments in Uptown. You're going to need to pound the pavement, my friend.

Skip the big complexes managed by AMLI, Post, and Gables since they all have national hq's with accounting departments. Which leaves you with a lot of single owner older complexes (like the ones along Cole by Cole Park) that aren't even $1k a month to rent anyway. Look up owners on DCAD and send them a letter wth your proposal. The rest of the "apartments" you see are actually condos and wouldn't need your services.

Good idea, kid, but I don't think you're going to live in a great aparment for a discount since most of the "desirable" ones are Gables, AMLI, etc.

Also $1k a month isn't "throwing away" money: you're putting a roof over your head and living somewhere with the perk of being close to where you play (ie, no need to ever take a cab when you can walk home). You can definitely save $200-300/mo if you'd extend your search to Oak Lawn, garage apartments in the Park Cities, Lakewood/East Dallas, or downtown itself.
