Default Plano/Dallas is snootiest place I've ever lived

I've lived in West Plano for over 10 years and find most people in my area to be shallow, non-thinking, materialistic, sheep. I seldom meet anyone here who can think in an analytical, non-judgmental, open-minded manner. Most folks just spout neo-Conservative rhetoric that they've picked up elsewhere and are up to their eyeballs in debt in an effort to impress everyone else. I've lived in London, England, Houston and Austin, Texas and Washington, D.C. I am a native Texan but must admit that Plano is my least favorite city in which I have lived. If only everyone here would just chill out and discover there are more things in life than running to the mall to make purchases on your store charge card.

One of the reasons I love Europe is the way people there enjoy living life instead of taking part in a pissing contest with your neighbor.

We are the anti-Plano around here. If the first thing out of someone's mouth is "what do you do?" we know they don't live in Lakewood.

Okay let me try my hand at this. I guess if I met someone and felt they were stuck up it would have to be that they were coming across as if everything and everyone was beneath them.
If I felt someone was materialistic I guess they would have to be coming across as if the only conversation they can have with me is about the maybach they drive and how much they spend at Tiffany's. But I feel we all are materialistic to some degree.
If I met someone that I felt was snobbish it would be due to the fact that they turned up their nose while talking to the sales clerk at Bergdorf Goodmans and when handing that person their platinum American Express card they didn't want to be accidentally touched by them. lol Heck I dont know!

Are you claiming to be non-judgmental? There are hundreds of thousands of people in Plano, so how can you develop an opinion about most of them?

That is a good question? How do you interview 100,000 people in Plano in order to judge them materialistic? And what is your criterion for "materialistic"?

Let me ask you a question. Do you go to church regularly? I would guess that a sizable percentage of the Plano population does, perhaps a majority. If you do not and they do, how does that make them materialistic in comparison to yourself? On the other hand, if you go to church, and people in Plano go to church, then they are no less materialistic than you are... people do not attend a church service for material gain, or because they are being paid to.

Reading between the lines of your post, it seems that you simply don't fit in to places like Plano. You may believe your way of thinking is broad, thoughtful and intelligent... but perhaps your Plano neighbors do not. You should find some place more sympathetic to your outlook on life. But if you choose not to, you can hardly expect Plano to change to suit you.

And once again, why are you making derogatory statements about Plano? To justify your bad fit? Plano doesn't have a problem with being Plano. If anyone has a problem, it's you.

The thread was started on the Dallas forum, it asked to describe stuck-up, materialistic, and snobbish, J.R. although a Hollywood fantasy lived in Dallas, and I was trying to be funny. Remember, he was stuck-up, materialistic, and a snob among many other low-quality adjectives. Maybe you're too young to remember, so never mind.
