Hair Salons and Barber Shops?
We've only been here in McKinney for 10 days, so there is a very good chance that I just haven't driven around enough yet but...why do there seem to be no barber shops for men here? And very few hair salons for women? I refuse to go to those "one size fits all" franchises, like Great Clips and Super Cuts. I've had enough bad hair cuts at those places in the past. And I really hate to send my husband to one as well.
Any recommendations?

We have plenty of hair salons but few barber shops. My husband still visits the local barber her in G-town and I have my stylist that I go to. I also do not care for those "one size fits all" places and do not patronize them. I take the girls to my lady for their haircuts. They may be hard to find as they all have fancy names and such so you have to kind of read into it when you see the names of businesses in the strip centers. Now the local barber.......... your best luck is to look in older parts of town and around the town squares. Good luck

Kind of far for you, but when I was a kid my dad and I would go to Ed's Clip Joint, which was an honest to goodness, old fashioned barber shop. I'm not sure if it's still around but it was in Carrollton or Farmer's Branch. They still used straight razors and warm shave cream. Had a spinning barber's pole out front too.

There's a barber in downtown Plano and another next to Poor Richard's Cafe, also in Plano.

There's got to be a barber shop in McKinney. I have 3 within walking distance of me (on the Dallas Richardson border along Coit).

Can't speak for McKinney, but there are a lot of them in Richardson - two in Richardson Heights shopping center alone. Actually, I think there are 3.
