Ouch!

Worst thing I've ever seen on a highway was a car about 5 cars in front of me have a tire blow out. Lots of quick breaking and a bit of swerving, but no further accidents caused by the car as it drifted over to the shoulder.

Dallas drivers are rude. People see you signaling, and then want to speed up to not let you in. At least on the FW side, they'll let you in, as long as you take the opening. If you take to long, I'm going to pass you up. And recently when I was on I-30 near Eastchase at the Fort Worth/Arlington border, and there was an 18-wheeler that's tire blew out. This happened RIGHT when I passed it up. And I mean, RIGHT when I passed it up. I was in front of it and all I heard was a loud screech and the 18-wheeler hit a car and then went into the concrete barriers. Everyone in front was looking in their rearviews at what just happened.

Now mind you when there is an accident on these freeways ya'll seem to do that good - which in turn shuts down both sides of the freeway.
Also the driving habits of Texas drivers amaze me- you MUST be a assertive & defensive driver on the roads. If your not doing mock-10 you WILL get ran over PERIOD. And the trucks and transit buses that are allowed to drive in the fast lane.........HELLO it's called a fast lane for a reason...not to mention the drivers that drive in the fast lane going five mile under the speed limit.

Enough of my rant- Traffic is light conpared to other parts of America's Metro areas.
Exactly.

I think my worst experiences with Texas traffic were in Austin - not because the drivers were rude or anything, it just constantly seemed to me that no one knew where they were going, and were habitually slowing down/speeding up to try to figure out what lane they were even supposed to be in.

But maybe I'm just used to Dallas's brand of jerk drivers!

Also this morning there was an SUV upside-down at the entrance to NorthPark on Northwest Highway. It looked like they had gotten off from the southbound portion of Central. It was bad..I don't want to see anything like that again. Slow down, people ! And use your signals !

Last week I was driving on 75 to Sherman and about 10 miles from town I (along with other drivers) came up on a farmer in a pickup truck who was completely asleep at the wheel. 75 is two lanes there with a concrete median, a two lane wide grass on the right shoulder then an access road after that.

The pickup was completely adrift much like a boat at sea. It was swerving all across both lanes then onto the grass then back on the highway. This went on for a solid 1/4 - 1/2 mile. I was watching this poor guy - OMG - I thought I was gonna watch this poor guy crash and die right in front of my very eyes. I swear I was near tears watching this. I was verily praying he wouldn't hit that median or flip the truck or something.

So I'm on the phone to 911 watching all this not knowing what to do. Finally he goes off the road on to the grass and apparently woke up just before he got to the access road.

All during that time I didn't know he was asleep. At the time I was guessing he was either asleep or sick - like MI or something. I didn't think he was drunk because drunks waver but have some control of the vehicle. This car was just completely adrift swerving back and forth in its wheel alignment curve. I of course found out he was asleep when he finally went off the road for the final time and then suddenly regained complete control over the vehicle and drove down the access road safely. OMG I was so happy to see that. I looked in at him as he was going on his way. He was a young guy maybe 30 or so. It occurred to me maybe he had worked all night and almost lost his life trying to do his job. Or of course he could have been drunk and passed out, but I just didn't get that sense. He completely regained control of the vehicle quite suddenly. That dude just fell asleep at the wheel.

It's like a horror show to me to watch a young guy work so hard he almost kills himself trying. That's really F-ed up. Kinda further darkens my vision of what this world actually is.

I saw one of those too LW. A car had apparently driven right off the overpass bridge on 75 NB over Arapaho or Galytyn and launched completely across the access road flipped and crashed by one of the DART stations. It was unbelievable.

Watching this veritable demolition derby around here is really sad. There's a lot decent people who suffer tragic loss of life and limb just trying to make their way through town.

Because some people are selfish, self-important, rude, inconsiderate and scofflaws! IMHO.

Husband saw an SUV on it's side at Royal and Central (I think it was) several days ago. He was going in a direction on Central that he couldn't stop and it had just happened, no police/rescue yet, but people who could stop were GOING AROUND the accident and acting like they were put out because it was in their way. Made him sick to his stomach.
