Hi everyone!! The husband and I are thinking of moving to Dallas this summer. He's a musician and I'm a paralegal with a BA degree. I was wondering how are the jobs in this field? What is the average pay? Thank you for your time

The job market in Dallas is better than most other areas, on a national scale, but unemployment is above 8% the last time I checked.

I know a zillion lawyers / paralegals / etc and I can tell you that paralegal pay tends to not be great --- $30k to $40k starting out, in most cases. Of course if you have good experience, are in a niche field or work a lot of hours - then you can make more. I know some paralegals who have been doing it just 5 years, and brought in six figures, but granted they were working 60-80 hour weeks at a big law firm in Dallas. LOL! In some firms, the executive secretaries make more than the paralegals, which seems backwards to me! But shop around, and you might find some place good. As long as you are personable, have a good appearance and a great resume - you will find a job. There are a lot of lawyers here, so you are in luck.
