All I said was Houston had the original & still the biggest/best Galleria which is a fact.

I also went on to say I respected Northpark & Neiman's is commonly referenced as "Needless Markup".

Dallas' claim to fames are Neiman's aka Needless Markup & Northpark, respectively. JC Penny headquartered in Plano & is a joke in the world of fashion. Dallas' Galleria was a later take off from Texas' original Galleria in Houston (still the biggest & best).

PS

Haven't we done this on here before?

Talk about Deja Vu.

Dont play innocent. The only reason this turned out a Houston vs. Dallas is all because of YOU. It is your doing.

.
And it is also irrelevant in this thread and most of all, nobody cares. This thread is about Dallas and it's accolades on fashion. Not about Houston and it's mall.

Putting Dallas on the list without even mentioning Chicago tells me right off the bat this fantasy list is bogus.

It didn't even provide a commentary for Dallas & being put out by a Texas based publisher doesn't quite mesh in my eyes. Seems they would at least mention Neimans. I read it twice over just to make sure.

When people start making special trips from Central & South America to Dallas just to shop give me a call.

Chicago has never really been considered an important fashion city. not sure why you're surprised by this

Metro Matt, this isn't about malls. Dallas Market Center and The Apparel Mart were a national wholesaler destination in the 1960s and 1970s when Miami Beach was fighting urban blight and hosting shuffleboard matches. Atlanta was comparatively nowhere on the scene.

And Houston? Houston has nothing remotely approaching a wholesale trade center. Dallas's rivaled TMC in shear sq. footage; Stemmons Freeway was essentially its service road.

Read up on your Texas History son.

Fashionable goods in Texas came by way of Galveston long before Dallas was even a city.

Commonly referenced by whom? In 20+ years of living in Dallas, I never heard it called that.

It's only commonly referred to as "Needless Markup" by hicks who have zero fashion sense.

Oh & D/FW has more shopping centers per capita, not Dallas.

Dallas' Galleria took a major hit after Northpark was renovated in the early 2000's. I don't think it has ever fully recovered either. People shop there out of convenience mostly.
WTH! When was the last time you were even at The Galleria in Dallas?!?!?! I was there LAST NIGHT! It was PACKED!!!!!! You obviously know very little about Dallas, our malls or the REAL reason why Dallas is considered so highly in the fashion world. It has NOTHING to do w/ the size of the malls.

You have to learn to give credit where credit is due. Im certainly willing to let Houston have credit where it earns it (international feel, very nice people, and nice tall trees). Dallas has a leg up on Houston in this one category and has achieved recognition for it from a huge publication that is not based in Texas or the South.

Youll sleep easier if you can let stupid s**t like pride for Houston go.
I was that The Galleria LAST NIGHT! It was PACKED and the stores, restaurants and ice rink were PACKED!!!! I'd venture to say they are doing fairly well . Tiffany & Co. didn't just open up shop there for no reason. They obviously know how well that mall is doing.

Well, when it comes to Matt.......... he can't let anything go when we can prove over and over that Dallas is better than Houston in some areas.

EXACTLY!!!! No one brought up Houston except MATT! And he did it by trying to bring Dallas down. He doesn't get that just because some international tourists visiting a city are NOT the reason to make a city important in the fashion industry.

Boy, maybe YOU should study up on your Texas history. Galveston was a MUCH more important player over Houston. Your beloved Houston was NOTHING compared to the importance of Galveston in early Texas history.

Oh, and just because the city is a port city does not mean the goods STAY THERE!

I've been here all of my 40+ years and the ONLY people I hear refer to NM in that way are those that usually walk around w/ a chip on their shoulder and have never even ventured into a Neiman's. It is not at all that common to hear though by most people at all.
