Default Addison Area

Hey y'all. I may be relocating and my office would be in Addison. Can anyone give me some information on nice areas with good schools for my kids? I was told that Plano and Farmers Branch are nice but if I can live within 5 miles of Addison I would love to have a short commute.

Thanks!

Frisco is a new, glistening suburb with tons of everything, and it's just a few miles away from Addison via the North Dallas Tollway.

Default Re:

That "few miles" to Frisco can take a long time during rush hour. If you're interested in the Plano ISD, you may be surprised to learn that it extends into a sizable chunk of Far North Dallas. More or less anything in the Dallas city limits located in Collin County is in the Plano ISD. That means you could get a house near Trinity Mills Rd or Frankford, be a quick hop from work, and still send your kids to Plano schools.

Look up Rose Haggar or Mitchell Elementary Schools (Plano ISD schools located in the City of Dallas) to get an idea of how close you can be to your office.

You will make a lot more money on your home if you buy inside LBJ. Try areas with schools feeding into the WT White cluster.

You may not even have to use the Tollway or LBJ to get to work. How nice is that?

Wow! You aren't kidding.

Is that a nice area between George Bush Tpk and Beltline East of the Dallas Tollway?

Wouldn't the crime rate be higher as I go towards the city?

That is how it is here in California.

I'm sure the crime rate is much higher in Addison than in North Dallas. And North Dallas homes had a 29% appreciation rate in the last report.

I'd check with the Addison police about crime rate. If you live in Addison near Beltline and Marsh you might not find the same concern for crime as you would lets say at Spring Valley and Marsh. Dallas schools though at the BL and M area. I'm not familiar with the schools for that part of town. North Carrollton would not be that bad of a drive to Addison. There are a lot of areas up that way that have exemplary schools. Lewisville and Carrollton Schools in the north Carrollton area are all pretty good in general with the exception of a few schools. You can always do a school check once you find a few areas you want to consider to live.

Preston Road divides Dallas from Richardson schools north of Belt Line. So Belt Line north to Collin County Line east of Preston to Central/75 is Richardson ISD. West of Preston is Dallas ISD. North of Collin County line is Plano ISD.

The Richardson high schools in that area are Pearce and Richardson.

Dallas isn't a traditional ringed city where crime simply increases as you move towards the city. Dallas is more of the banded model. Just going straight down the Dallas North Tollway you generally have very low crime rates all the way to downtown with a few spots of higher crime(these areas are under serious gentrification threat though)
