I am a professional female looking for apts and condos near SMU. I would like an apt for my first 6 months to get a feel for the area before buying a condo. My "must have" is that it(condo/apt) must be near to DART rail so I can avoid the rush hour traffic on my way to work. Any suggestions on names of apt complexes or condo complexes. Thanks!

The Hotel Palomar has some condos for sale. It's right across from the Dart Rail station.

Try the area bounded by Greenville Ave, Lover's Lane, Skillman and the DART line - future Katy Trail extension. University runs through the middle. The Lover's Lane DART station is in walking distance (as is SMU and the celebrated Central Market and Old Town Shopping Center). Also if you want to drive and park it's close to the Mockingbird and White Rock Lake stations.

SMU runs a free shuttle bus through the area. I think anyone can use it as DART subsidizes it...

There are some nice apartments at Mockingbird Station as well. You would have DART rail, and shopping at literally at your doorstep, and its a stones throw from SMU.
