Stillbrooke Homes
Hello! We are relocating to Dallas late summer/early fall from the Williamsburg, VA area. Wondering if anyone knew anything about Stillbrooke Homes building in the Chapel Springs section of Highland Village? They are also building in the Bella Lago section of Grapevine. Many thanks in advance!

Bad quality and customer service issues
We had a very unpleasant experience with Stillbrooke. The hour and half walk through lasted more than three hours due to the extensive list of incomplete work. In this extensive list - we missed a crack in the granite as the attention was diverted to the other incomplete and improperly done work in the house.
We reported the crack in the granite in the kitchen counter top just 2 days after closing and a week before we moved in. Stillbrooke responded with very bad customer service and refuses to replace granite. They offered a cosmetic fix with glue with no warranty.
Other home owners found mold in a new home, improperly fixed A/C units and another homeowner had a cracked granite as well.
If I had known the issues with Stillbrooke - I would have never invested my time and money into building with Stillbrooke.
They are not quality builders and their construction supervisors and sales agents are below par. Worst part is that they change their customer service as soon as the building contract is signed.
Avoid Stillbrooke and Bud Bartley! They are poor quality builders!

Wow!!! We are going through very similiar issues with them in the Albuquerque NM area. We have been here a week and I am finding lots of issues. We had to argue with them to remove the huge pile of dirt left over from construction. They said it was supposed to be there. I showed pictures of the lot preconstruction. They also said construction debris was not their job to remove. There is cigarettes, razor blades, dry wall, soda cans, rusty nails, etc. all over the back yard. After arguing with them about it they agreed to remove it today. It is now almost 2 pm and no sign of the back hoe. I was also suppost to have cans of paint so I can repaint the overspray on the front door on friday. They never showed up. I have no way to color match the stucco or door as they left us nothing. My fire place still doesn't work. We have been in our home for 2 days now and no closer to resolving our issues. I hope they will soon take care of us as the next step will involve lawers. This was in addition to the huge list we found on the walk through and things we noticed during construction, including wrong faucet in sink, an entire wall built wrong, stains in carpet, exposed wires through stucco, damaged walls and paint, and yes, even the cracked counter top. These issues have not all resolved yet so I will check back in to let you know how they went.

I have been in my Stillbrooke home for over three months and the granite in my kitchen has cracked at 10 places - two near the cooktop and eight cracks near the sink! We discovered one crack initially but then got a granite inspector who discovered several cracks mainly where the support structure is weak (near cooktop and sink cutouts). I left several messages for the builder and granite company but they have not responded. I sent them a demand letter giving time till May 31st to replace granite but again there is no response.
The A/C upstairs does not work properly - making one room an icebox and the other a heated oven.
Stillbrooke/Bud Bartley homes say they offer one year warranty but their construction quality is poor and their warranty does not cover! We are left with a cracked granite countertop that was caused during construction and Stillbrooke does not take accountability nor give any customer service.
I am going to complain against BBB and hope that other homeowners put their hard earned money invested with better builders who deserve the business...

Update. The foreman told me he is done helping me and will send no more help to my house. He told me only the VP can approve the fixes needed. I have already contacted my lawer so he can advise me what to do step by step. Luckily we have pre and postconstruction pics of the issues and recorded phone conversations. At this point I am suggesting to anyone reading this that if you find yourself looking in a Stillbrooke neighborhood turn around right away and get out asap! DO NOT even look at a model. DO NOT BUY A STILLBROOKE HOME! So far it has been the biggest waste of a quarter million dollars I have seen anyone make. I am really nervous because this is my third day in the home. What will it be like when I am here for three months like sg060dal? Oh yeah, circuit breakers go off in every single room when I turn the vacuum on. Discovered that one last night.

hey sg060dal, You mentioned your neighbors had problems. If you can, ask them to post here. Although we are in different states I am very curious about other people who are having issues. It seems like a lot of the same problems even though we are 700 miles apart. We can share info in case litigation is needed to resolve our problems. Thanks for all the info you have given so far.

I am going to post a quick update and will post a detailed report LATER. I sent a letter with a deadline of May 31st to Bud Bartley/Stillbrooke homes and copied TRCC (Texas Residential Construction Commission) and HBA DAllas (Home Builders Association) asking for a response to either replace granite or reimburse costs so that I can replace myself.
I am yet to hear from Bud Bartley/Stillbrooke homes. I repeatedly called the granite company - Cody Armstrong at Grayson Stone ( www.graysonstone.com) and have the proof as I called from my cell. I keep talking to some person who always says Cody will reply by email or respond by calling. I have not got a response yet.
This is not how I like to be treated after spending almost half a million dollars - Stillbrooke does not back up their one year warranty and treats customers with no customer service at all.
I plan to create a blog and put up pictures of all ten cracks in the granite and put up facts so that the public can make an informed decision before buying with Bud Bartley/Stillbrooke homes.
There are several quality builders out there who deserve your business - NOT STILLBROOKE/BUD BARTLEY.

We bult a beautiful custom Stillbrooke Home in New mexico and have had a great experience with them. Everything was completed on time and the warranty company has been great. I guess with any builder there are going to be cases of unhappy customers, but we are totally satisfied with our home and everyone we dealt with.

I also think a lot of people have buyers remorse when they buy things as expensive as a half million dollar house. I am also in sales and I know from experience that you are never going to be able to please them all.....just a thought
