Looking into moving into Rowlett.
1. Can anyone elaborate on Rowlett High School? They do not have a magnet program or an IB program from what I've read, but are rated as an excellent school.
2. Various ethnicities in Rowlett?
3. Also heard since it falls under Garland ISD, we have a choice of the other schools.
4. Considering a home on the lake. Any thoughts, suggestions, etc?

1. No, Rowlett HS is one of the only high schools in the GISD that does not offer any kind of magnet programs. No IB. The only high school in the GISD that offers the IB program is Garland High School. My daughter goes there and in the IB program. If your child is already in an IB program they can probably transfer into it and I do highly recommend them doing so. There are a lot of kids that live in Rowlett that attend GHS.

2. It is very diverse....... however, there have been issues of racial problems at the school.

3. Yes, Rowlett HS is one of 7 high schools in the GISD: Garland, South Garland, North Garland, Lakeview Centennial, Naaman Forest, Rowlett and Sachse. No plans for an 8th high school, those were ditched about a month or two ago. All schools are at capacity. You do have choice of school and the forms are due SOON! For secondary schools they are due Feb 18th. If you are wanting a magnet program OR even want to attend RHS then you better get it done ASAP!

4. Depends on what part of the lake. Some areas around the lake are not so great and some are better.

And if you located in the part of Rowlett on the east side of Dalrock Road, your kids will be in the Rockwall ISD. Some people prefer that district to Garland, and many also definitely prefer living in Rockwall County vs. Dallas County. Lots of nice homes on the lake in Rowlett are in Rockwall county.
