I believe an education should also include learning to socialize within a diverse community and you lose that in a private school. Diversity is the real world our kids must learn to live in.

Lady Bucs Take 3 of 4 in Softball Tournament « East Dallas Times

"J. L. Long Middle School Lady Bucs softball got off to a strong start for the year with an 3-1 showing at this year’s SMS Softball Tournament, which occurred Feb. 26 at Bearden Park in Seagoville.

Seagoville Middle School hosted the tournament, and the day started out cold and on semi-muddy fields. Yet despite the less-than-favorable conditions the ladies won their first game against Spence 15-0 with the help of two home runs from Greer Lambert.
After a loss to Comstock, 4-8, they went on to win against Tasby, 10-3, and Seagoville, 10-7"

I like the news, and the article except for "one of Dallas's poorest neighborhoods and one of its richest feed into the school." That is true, but it kind of leaves the impression that those neighborhoods make up the entire enrollment. Neglecting the huge swath - you know like our neighborhood - in the middle economically. Most of the kids there will be neither from the poorest nor the wealthiest of households. The great thing is that all those groups will be friends.

Yep when we did a documentary on Woodrow's 80th, the participants were asked what was the greatest thing about the school and most said that the wide spectrum of friends they made was most important.
