I am relocating to dallas from milwaukee and so far only liked only plano or frisco.

Can you guys let me know the commute time from frisco to downtown on the dallas tollway? How about from Plano to Downtown using I-75?

Does the traffic get better if you leave late (say after 9 AM)?

Also how much toll bill do you get on a monthly basis for using the dallas tollway.

Thanks in advance.

You're looking at least an hour long commute from Frisco to Dallas with moderate traffic & thats taking the Dallas North Tollway which can get pretty expensive if you do it every day.

Via Tollroad, about an hour from Frisco and 45 minutes from West Plano. More if you live a long ways from the Tollroad (traffic is really bad on some of the Frisco side streets in rush hour).

Rush hour is generally 7-9. If you can leave after 9, it's probably 35-40 minutes from Frisco and 25 minutes from West Plano.

This is to true downtown Dallas. If you are commuting to Presron Center or Uptown, its a bit less time.

I drive a reverse commute from Uptown to Legacy exit in north Plano (almost to Stonebriar mall). Tolls are approx $6/day (Tolltag "discounted" rate) or $120/mo. If you live in far north Frisco (El Dorado exit), it's nearly $9/day.

Can't speak to rush hour on US 75 (I-75 is over in Florida/ Kentucky/ Ohio), but it has heavy 18-wheeler traffic and generally moves 10mph or more slower than the Tollroad.

With traffic? Geezus...the sky is the limit. Plan for at least 45 minutes...if not more.

During off hours, I can get from my West Plano home to downtown in 20 minutes (actually timed myself to my brother's apt when he lived downtown and it took me 19 minutes).

The TollTag people will charge your credit card 40 or 80 dollars...and every time you drive through a toll zone, money will be subtracted from your balance.

From W. Plano, you'd hit TWO toll plazas on your way downtown - Keller Springs and the southernmost toll plaza...I think it's 75 cents apiece. Obviously, the farther north you go, the more toll plazas there are.

I think the bigger question is... why do that to yourself?

DART doesn't go up to Frisco and the train ends at the Parker station in Plano along 75. I don't think the OP could use the DART train unless they wanted to pick it up halfway through their commute.

YES. My ex (again, living in W Plano) would drive to the GB Dart station and take the bus downtown in the morning and come back in the evening. Got reading done, knitting done, etc.

My friend (plasma physicist at Raytheon) takes Dart from Allen to Richardson.

How? He'd be at least 75% of the way to Rayethon by the time he got to the first rail station @ Parker.

SHE...and I have no idea...I don't look at DART stations...just know that is what she told me.

She and her hubby are big fans of DART.

Frankly, what I imagine is any amount of time off of 75 southbound in the morning is probably a win.
