I have heard living in Denton county is much better in terms of insurance, tax rates, etc. in comparison to Dallas and Collin counties.

Is this true? Any opinions?

Property taxes are a little lower than Collin (i.e. part of Frisco in Denton county pay less than the parts in Collin), then Collin is lower than Dallas.

Not sure about insurance. Insurance typically applies to the replacement cost of a home. It's also less for newer homes, but I don't think that would change county to county unless there are flood zones in one or the other.
