Well, yes and no. Traditionally, downtown LA has been dead but in the last couple of years that's starting to change. And with the opening of the first phase of LA Live (the big, mixed-use Victory Park-like shopping megamart next to Staples Center) and all the condo conversions (Johnny Depp and Ryan Gosling and other Hollywood types buying places downtown) and infill from Hollywood (new W, new Whole Foods going up) to downtown, it may be (finally) attaining critical mass.

Downtown DC and downtown LA are not dead at night. You should try visiting them sometime. Cant speak on SF, haven't been down there at night.
Most states, if you don't have kids, you don't pay school taxes. Read up on it.
Comparing the shore of a lake to the beach is laughable. Let it be known that most of the lakes in DFW are man made.

There are so many false comments here I don't even know where to start. How about this: Every comment is flat out wrong.
Theaters: If you only found 5 theaters in all of the Dallas metroplex that are not located on a college campus you need to get out more. One poster already provided a great list of theater companies. I also know several people in the acting world here in the Dallas metroplex. Those that want to stay busy in the theater arts are ALWAYS busy. I have one good friend that is in one production several times a year. She is AWESOME!
Downtown La a hot spot at night: I guess if your looking to pay $100 bucks to be "entertained" and get "hot" However that is not the kind of entertainment I'm looking for As for SF, I've been there and at night it is okay. You have to walk every where you want to go as parking is non existent and for those that are older it can be a very bad thing on some of those uphill streets.
School taxes: Name ONE? Not one single state in this country lets people that do not have children in the public schools NOT pay school taxes. Now, you may be getting confused that some states let counties/cities have a freeze on school taxes if they are over a certain aged. THAT is how it is here in Texas and even Richardson is one of the cities that did such. Senior citizens also get a higher homestead exemption on school taxes. IF what you are saying REALLy is true you better bet that every single person over 65 would be FLOODING that state and it would be VERY WELL KNOWN that they don't charge school taxes to seniors. You REALLY need to back up your statement if your going to throw this out.

Kind of hard to argue with a teenager whose certain his hometown sucks, good luck in LA! I'm sure you'll be incredibly happy there.....and of course another teen from Houston who is bent on making his city appear different and better. Btw, Dallas must have done something right to get you to come here 8 times.

True. But, not only does he think this pitstop on his way to the Promised Land sucks but his real hometown too. He is not even from here. Then we have that johnmarq dude that only comes on here every so often and does nothing but stir up trouble all the while promoting the place he supposedly lives. LOL!!! Life is so fun and adventuresome. All I can say is that if some of these people find these things to complain about here in Dallas they better not move to MOST areas in the U.S. LOL!!!
I feel sorry for anyone that says they are supposedly "stuck" in any place/location for whatever reason and are so miserable there. Life is WAY TOO short to have to live anywhere that you hate and despise.

Grass and trees suck!
Don't move to Dallas, they have too many places to shop and eat.
Month long, huge state fairs are for losers. So is public transportation. Don't be fooled by quality of life. Run for your life!!!!

the dallas cowboys defense here is as important as the one that is going to be on the field today in the pre-season opener. lol
except the stakes here isnt a successful regular season with hopes to make the playoffs and bring more revenue to the economy of big d its about trying to cover up media perception of dallas as a city of plastic women?
