Default The real scoop on Dallas

If you move here your friends will never come visit because there is literally nothing for the out of town visitor to do besides shop, eat and drink. And brace yourself for the "fine patio dining" options in Dallas. Gee. This patio overlooking a parking lot or freeway sure is nice.

You can only go to the 6th floor museum so many times....

This city has no character, no soul and no beauty. It just doesn't have an identity....sorry DFW'ers....leading the nation in "restaurants per capita" is not something to be proud of. But it's pretty much the only thing the Dallas visitors bureau has to work with.

I'm not a negative guy. Just speaking the truth. After 7+ years here, I have to say that enough is enough. I'm outta here as soon as I can.

You're supposed to alternate the 6th Floor Museum with the Dallas World Aquarium.

Whatever you do don't move to Columbus, Georgia. They can't boast a zoo, restaurants, or a decent mall to speak of...let alone an aquarium or being open anywhere on a Sunday. But there are Dinglewood $15 hot dogs.

Sounds great - I'm sure you'll be very happy there

I'd rather be known as "leads nation in restaurants per capita" than "leads nation in breweries per capita"

I can't begin to tell you how many people have said that same line and then wish they were back. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

The grass is always greener on the other side... until you get to that other side.

Gotta love people putting flame posts when they move. Guess they don't understand "different strokes for different folks". Wonder what city he lived in...

Well we lived in Dallas from 1997-2006. My husband wanted to move because from the lies he was fed the grass looked greener. I told him then it's because you have to put up with more fertilizer--and I was right. We'll be back hopefully before the end of the year.

Dallas may not be for everyone, but in our experience people are POLITE and HONEST and UPFRONT. Things I have found NOT to be true here on a consistent basis in Georgia, and will be glad to be back...sans the fertilizer.

That's funny... every visitor we have had so far has absolutely loved the area. Some would love to move here... one has put their home on the market.

To each their own...

SickOf, if you can't find things to like and to do in a metro of 6 million people, there's something wrong with you. Seriously wrong. And whatever it is, it will still be wrong if you migrate to a smaller, less diverse metro.
