Default Highland Village: A-Train to DART to Downtown Dallas

Is it feasible to commute from Highland Village to Downtown Dallas via public transit? It looks like a new commuter rail service (the A-train) is set to open in June that will connect to the DART greenline in Carrollton. How long would that commute take?

Looking to relo from Chicago. We don't own a car. It would be nice if we only needed to buy one.

You do NOT have a car and are going to be in Highland Village? Are you nuts? Seriously. And the job is downtown. YIKES!

Definitely, yes, you will be able to commute from Highland Village to Downtown using DART and the A-Train. You do need a car though for emergencies, definitely. If you two can function with one car that is great.

You WILL need to drive to the station on the A-Train Line, ofcourse.

Default Clarification & a bit more info

We would definitely be getting at least one car (or mini-van, suv, etc.). My wife stays home with our two kids ages 6 and 3. I would work in downtown Dallas. We would like to stick to the one car, but can only do that if the commute on the A-train & Dart would really work. That depends on how long the trip would take and the train schedules (which I understand haven't been set yet). I have occasional late nights at the office and would need the trains to be running to get home.

I could also get an inexpensive second car to do the park and ride thing if it became a burden for my wife to drop me off at the station each day (assuming we would not live within walking distance of the station).

Any ideas how long the trip would take (from HV to the St. Paul station)?

I moved here from Chicago with my ex-husband. We only had one car and he refused to buy another one.

I divorced that guy.

Since there isn't a schedule for the A-Train I have no idea how long it would take. I know that it does take 45 minutes to get from the Green Line's northern terminus (North Carrollton/Frankford Station) to St. Paul station.
Example: 7:11am-7:56am

That being said, YOU would transfer from the A-Train to DART @ Trinity Mills Station. It is 43 minutes from Trinity Mills Station to St. Paul Station.

Hope this helps!

Default A Train to Dallas

New to Highland Village from Chicago and would like to have information on getting to the Dallas Opera from Highland Village using the A train that is to begin service in June. Where exactly does the A train stop in Highland Village?
Thanks

By Lewisville Lake. Also, there is a stop in Old Town Lewisville, I believe.
