Anyone know of any quaint neighborhood coffee shops in the North Dallas / Plano area? All the ones that come up in reviews have closed. .

There are a couple of Cafe Brazil locations in that area. One in Richardson on 75 & Campbell and one in Plano at 190 & Coit.

The 3 best coffeehouses are in Dallas -
Pearl Cup on Henderson at McMillan
Stir on Peavy at Garland inside Good 2 Go Taco
Oddfellows in Bishop Arts District

And....Zaguan on Oaklawn at Fairmont is good.

In the area you are looking...Obzeet's (on Preston just south of GB) has a fun unique vibe. More of a cafe (and bar in the evening) than coffeehouse though.

I walk to my kitchen and turn on my LaSpaziale S1 Vivaldi II every morning and make a double latte for both my wife and myself. Gave up on coffee houses long ago. Dallas is slowly building itself a coffee culture though - I was tickled to see the Mercantile Coffee House carrying Intelligentsia Coffee (I've used their Black Cat Espresso blend for the last 4 years).

Anyone know if any of the local places roast their own, besides White Rock Coffee? I'm just not a fan of theirs. Would love to buy from a local roaster instead of ordering it online.

Coffee Company roasts their own, but it is not a coffee house. I'm not a fan of White Rock Coffee either. Interestingly enough is that THE BEST coffeehouses buy their beans form other areas - Stir, Pearl Cup and Oddfellows - all buy from Cuvee in Austin. And you know about Mercantile.

Nathan at Stir is the best barista is town - go in and talk to him about the beans, the temps of the coffee and milk. If Rip is there, you will get quite an education - he made me a cortado...I can't have anything less now. It's total science - I think you will love it...knowing how "numbers" oriented you are. :-) Keep in mind that Stir closes at 3pm and is closed on Mondays.

I may just have to do that! I enjoy a good conversation about coffee, especially when I learn! We go through about 4 pounds of coffee each month and it would be nice to keep our tax dollars local.
