was doing a search on an MLS site that lets you look for foreclosures and saw that there are quite a few down by Joe Pool Lake in Lake Ridge--
anyone know if a builder went out of business, or they might be because of home owners' finances, or maybe problems w/foundation/construction issues... most are newer homes and look very nice from MLS fotos... |

That area is called Best of the Southwest which is made up of Duncanville, Cedar Hill and Desoto. Just last night they said on the news that area has seen a huge hike in foreclosures. I believe it has more to do with personal finance. That area is in decline. I use to live there and would move back that way if the air quality was better. It is ashame to hear that about Lake Ridge, it is a true custom neighborhood that way and has the hill country atmosphere.

Here's an article about it that The Dallas Morning News ran:

There are also some serious issues about foundation support in that area. Not going to say anything specific for fear of any slander liability. Just be very careful, quite a few houses in the neighborhood had severe problems, not sure whether you could blame it more on the land or the builders, but it has caused a few people just to bail out anyway they could.

I can see foundation issues in Mountain Creek and over on the escarpment near Lake Ridge over at Juniper Point and neighborhoods that surround Juniper Ridge such as Robin Road. Sometimes builders had to have a special permit just to build over on the escarptment. Lakeridge itself has several homes that are not on rocky hills and some sit in a field type setting with the Lake in view.
Foundation problems were all we ever heard about in 93 in certan areas around Cedar Hill. I would look at the lay of the land and make sure the home has peir and beam foundation. I though would not be worried about buying a home on the golf course or on a gentle sloping hilly street. |

no, what I'm talking about specifically involves standing suits. So no need to make an existing situation worse by silly moves on a forum.

What MLS site are you using. My husband and I are looking for land and would like to look at anything in which we may able to get a good deal on.

But you do make a good point that the fear of SLAPP suits are still a method of surpressing public discourse. Back towards the topic -- had not this whole area gone through bankruptcy at least once before back in the late 80s through the early 90s? |
