Hello:
I am planning to relocate to Dallas from Chicago. I am married with two kids, one three year and other 5 weeks. I am of South Asian (origin). We were looking at houses in Coppell and I wanted to get feedback on Coppell ISD. I also wanted to know future job prospects from Senior Level Mechanical Engineer (design with telecom companies)

I would appreciate feedback.

Thanks
Amit

Hello Amit,

First, congrats on your baby and you're facing a relocation so soon after giving birth. That brings up a lot of memories, my son was 3 months old and my daughter was 2 when we moved to Dallas from Chicago. We never regretted the move.

Coppell ISD happens to be one of the best ones around. It is also a very nice town to live in. There are many people from diverse backgrounds in Coppell as well.

It may not be the best telecom area for jobs like the city of Richardson is but there are a lot of major employers close to there and more moving there.

You should make a trip to visit.

Naima

Richardson is better than Coppell as prices for homes are less and the job market is growing due to the rebound in employers.

Default Thinking movind from Chicago to Dallas

Hi :
My husband and I are planning to relocate to Dallas from Chicago. I am married with two kids, one 5years and other 3years. I am from South America (origin). We were looking at houses in Coppell and I wanted to get feedback on Coppell ISD. I also wanted to know future job prospects from bilingual secretaries in district schools or private school, what are the salaries? I love Chicago but I hate the winters and I hear Dallas is hot in july and august but the rest of the year is good. Anybody who lives in both places?

I would appreciate feedback.

Thanks

Get the job first, then decide where to live. As regular posters here will tell you, DFW is HUGE, and you will want to keep your commute to a minimum so you can spend more time with your baby! Most of the computer/telecom jobs are in Legacy Park in Plano, or in Richardson, both of which are a LONG commute from Coppell.

it is hot here beyond July and August--can be over 90 in September and we start running our AC in May sometimes--

public schools are in financial trouble

run a search on the Dallas or FTW forum for topics--and you will get lots of info already posted
most of that info is still viable and useful
