Hello, due to the USDA and FDA regulations (or rather, lack thereof), I'm looking to start buying my meat from local vendors who adhere to a higher standard than the required one.

That said, I can't afford to pay significantly more than Tom Thumb etc. either.

I've recently become aware of Ye Ole Butcher Shop, and the product's I've tried so far certainly tastes well, and they are affordable (surprisingly so), does anyone know if they get their meat locally, how it's processed (do they use "pink slime" in their ground meat for instance?) so on and so forth?

I've been meaning to ask the proprietor, but it's always so busy in there...

Alternately, if anyone else knows of a good locally owned butcher shop, that source their (quality) meat from local farmers and meat producers (as much as possible), feel free to suggest them.

Thank you

Probably too far for you...but we buy ours from Local Yocal in Mckinney...and they get their meat from Genesis Beef (all grass-fed, hormone free). There is also Hirsch's Meat in Plano...not sure where their meat comes from though.
