I find it interesting that Plano ISD spends about $7,600 per kid and DISD spends about $8,400 per kid. DISD teachers are unionized, right?

No. (At least not any more than the suburban schools). HPISD spends less than all of them. I think it is because they have fewer needs that need to be met by the school. Who is going to need more money to educate the child: 1) the student of two college educated parents with limitless income; or 2) the child of a migrant farm worker who never graduated high school or spoke English.

You seem to have the idea that once you cross the municipal boundary into a city that all Hell breaks loose and suddenly everyone is poor, uneducated and lives in a Mad-Max post apocalyptic nightmare. You really need to get out more.

Because tastes in neighborhoods and houses, as well as tolerance for longer commutes vary from person to person.
Best answer I've seen yet.

Oh, when you said "south of 635", you meant only specific locations against all of Plano?

DISD isn't unionized? I thought it was. I wasn't referring to Highland Park ISD, I was referring to Dallas ISD.

Question - do Asian kids of parents who are immigrants and don't speak English have as hard a time as Latino kids of immigrant parents who don't speak English?

Because Plano is loaded with "special needs" kids whose parents don't speak English. They are from India, China, Mexico...

Is Milwaukee 90% special needs since it spends over $16K per year per student? Or is it because of teacher unions?

Um, yes. The neighborhoods of north/ east/ northeast Dallas....which would be the same ones any relo would consider who was in the financial position to look in Plano or Frisco. The same neighborhoods we were comparing crime rates in yesterday, remember? How many people live in Plano & Frisco- 250,000? 300,000? The areas of Dallas we're comparing against have 325,000 residents. Includes lower, middle, and upper income neighborhoods- same as Plano and Frisco. It's entirely a fair comparison.

Are you such a jerk in real life or only on the Internet where you can get away with it?

Wow. You sure are hostile. You want someone to kick the crap out of me and you are calling me a jerk? LOL

Plano has 260,000. Frisco has about 100,000.

You said "south of 635". Don't get all upset with me because I didn't read your mind.
