Please don't mislead people into thinking anyone can go to a Dallas magnet school. They cannot. Magnet schools have eligibility requirements, many have waiting lists.

Someone living in Allen, TX, can apply for Gifted and Talented in Dallas. Anyone can. So what?

tallscot are you unfamiliar with school choice in DISD?

I know my Plano elementary school my kids go to isn't like that.

Or does she have a crusade too?
Obviously your Plano elementary school is not as popular as Lakewood.

Um, just in case you are new to Dallas............ or Texas............ there has been this problem w/ cheating on the TAKS tests. Even before they were required to be taken by all students before they could move onto the next grade level the cheating and selective testing was RAMPANT! Especially in some of the "better" school districts. My sis taught in PISD and is in the MISD. She witnessed it firsthand. Principals telling certain kids they had no need to come to school the next day as they were going to be "ill" . They knew which students would bring down their ratings and heaven forbid those went down and ruined that school districts and campuses TAKS ratings.

Which is just one of many reasons why many of us actually take any results based on TAKS scores w/ a grain of salt.

Exactly. And reviews from people that aren't even parents but want to make their schools look good if they are selling or have houses to rent or what's to stop them from giving not so good reviews to competitive schools.

Ya think

People go there to read the "parent" reviews.
I don't even take all of the reviews that seriously. It's like reading tripadvisor. You have read between the lines. Like I said, you can make up 100 different accounts and rate your fave or most hated school the way you want it to be and there are going to be people that will take those "ratings" and reviews seriously.

So, you are saying that Great Schools does not take the reviews given to them by people they don't know and use it to calculate their "ratings".............. I've got some land for sale, interested?

Sure they can. Some do. And also from Highland Park, Coppell, Plano and McKinney high schools. We all know they do - and they know who they are - renting an apartment within DISD so their their kids can get out of the mega-highschools and get into an intense-focused DISD magnets.

There are more students, but the building is big enough to accommodate them and a dozen computers in each classroom, along with a reading area with rocking chairs and bean bags...in every class.

You should come up and check them out.

"Bottom line- your being new to the forum and making all these posts just seems very strange."

Yes I simply can't figure out his motive.

Before yesterday their last post was in 7/2008.

Do I smell what I think I do? Could it be? NAW! Never. We don't have trolls that troll around to come in and stir up a pot to argue about schools and how much better their school is than anyone elses do we

I'd be more interested in knowing what the motive is of someone who has made 14,775 posts here. Are you on a crusade?! LOL

That's 8 posts every day for the last five years!
