gosh a-1 is is number one, i think I have not hear that in twenty years. funny how silly little commercials stick with ya for years and years.
For some reason I've always remembered some low budget commercial for a local florist shop. I think the place was called Carins Flowers. The commercial was just a still frame of an old delivery truck and they played music box type music.
Westway Ford recently resurected Joe Greed and old jingle where they draw out Weeeestwaaaaay Foooord.
Channel 11, remember BJ and the Super 1's?

60's dallas
Can we go back further to the mid late sixties ... hippy places like Lee Park,
head shops like The Tarantula on NW Hwy. Clothing stores in Oak Lawn...Rebirth of America (wher I bought a Neru jacket) Pandemonium.
Mother Blue's on Lemmon Ave. Right across from Dr. Pepper on NW Hwy. was a club where you sat on the floor on pillows it was very dark and SSSSSsmoky and we saw The American Blues who later would become ZZ Top. The Walrus? Before that as a kid I remember seeing beatnik bars in Oak Lawn area and being cautioned about the beats that hung around which only made me curious ---Teahouse of the August Moon. Ahh..it's all coming back to me now.

This is the best thread ever. I'm still going through all of the posts, so sorry if this is a repeat, but remember A&P stores? I think they're still around, but not down here. It was the only real grocery store in Plano for a while until Safeway came along.

Remember back before Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville existed? It was completely empty fields out that direction and now look at it. Its unbelieveable how much that area has grown in the last 15-20 years.

It's funny you mention that I was curious about those the other day too and I looked them up on Wikipedia. Apparently, they do still exist (in North Carolina and Florida I think). I thought that was a lil surprising after the whole repackaging meat fiasco.

LOL!!!
A-1 Is number 1. Funny. OHGOSH! WEEESTWAAAAAAY FORD! bam-bam (does he shot the six shooters in the new commcercial?)
Hey, the other night during the 10 o'clock news I heard them say, "It is 10 o'clock. Do you know where your children are?". WOW!!!! HOLY SMOKES!!! Bout time they brought THAT one back.
That pool commercial for the above ground pools, "____ pools are fun get ya one. _____ pools are fun get ya one." That stupid jingle gets in your head.
Food Lion stores: most in the DFW area are now owned by one of the following groups: US Post Office, Church, School District (Garland ISD owns 2). The buildings have come in handy I guess. LOL!!! Only went in one once, that was all I needed
Vista Ridge Mall. Carrollton was SUPPOSED to have gotten that mall and it would have been on 190 by where Walmart is now. As always they managed to screw up that deal and lost it to Lewisville. I remember when Sears and Dillards did not even connect when they first opened. I actually worked there for awhile In cosmetics But then I remember when most malls around here were not even in existence. We could hit all 6 in one day if we really tried.
Yes, remember A&P along w/ Piggly Wiggly.

There used to be a Piggly Wiggle at Coit and Arapaho (later a linen store and then most recently a Borders, but it's empty now).
Does anyone remember that Coit and Belt Line used to be a traffic circle?
