I was on the phone with one of my cousins today, and he asked if I remembered when his dad used to take us to Carousel Raceway...

I had forgotten all about that place...

anybody else?

Anybody remember the old PC Cobb stadium located off I35. The all concrete seats were something my back can't forget.

I've been following this for months. I was in Dallas in the early 70's. Hillcrest '79. Cruising Forest. I worked at Preston Forest Exxon. A couple of things no one has mentioned yet. Does any one remember waaayyy out in the country on Preston Rd.....about at Belt Line, there were 3 or 4 trailer houses sitting on the East side of Preston? Does any one remember what the signs on them said they were?
One other thing. Am I crazy, or did you put your quarter on a Colored Space at the State Fair Of Texas, and when the ball was rolled, if it landed on your color, you won Cigarettes!?!? When you were 14!?!?

Default Does Anyone Remember Camp Kiwanis on Bachman Lake

Does anyone remember the wonderful YMCA day camp on Bachman lake called Camp Kiwanis? I attended in the 60's and 70's and the camp had already been around a long time by the time I got there. My best summer memories of Dallas were at that camp. Making lanyard keychains and playing four square under the big white building where the camp store was, hiking around Bachman, naps in the big hall with the grandaddy longleg spiders. If anyone else attended I would love to hear your memories or see any photos you may have. The Camp is gone now and I can't find anything about it on the internet. I have always wondered about the history of the Camp and what eventually happened to it.

We called them the Witches of Stemmons Towers. They removed them many years ago because of the nocturnal tourists.

I was one of those "nocturnal tourists". We used to take people who was unaware of them after the bars closed. That was in the mid 1970's.

How about Rod Roddy on the AM radio before he went to "The Price Is Right"?

I left Dallas in the late 70s and have missed it every day, hoping to move back in retirement soon. This thread brings back great memories.
