Wow! I found this site by accident but it has been great thinking back to the old days! I passed European Crossroads the other day and that is what got me wondering about a club that I hung out in back when I was only 17 -18 yrs old! It was called Amnezia's....anyone recall that one??

Yes, it was in European Crossroads. Other clubs in that development were The Beggar and Roxy. I only went to Amnesia a few times. I think it took over one of the other clubs. They all seemed to change names every few years.

I used to go out to Roxy. Didn't really like the music (I usually hung around Cardi's or Mad Cap Mollie's), but it was a good place to meet folks. Did I ever ask you to dance? You know me...shoulder length dark brown hair parted down the middle, winged back and feathered, Black Members Only jacket...shoot, that doesn't narrow it down much, huh? hehe

OMYGOSH!!!! That was YOU!!! Sorry that number I gave you on a wet napkin smudged and wasn't my REAL phone number I was the one in the BIG bulky black sweater w/ GIGANTIC shoulder pads, Gold lame stretch pants, Black heels w/ the rounded toe, "frosted" hair (we did "frost" back then not "highlights" like now), and the Farrah Fawcet "wings" and the rest "teased to Jesus". And Pink eye shadow
Y'all will LOVE this. Hubby and I have been to MANY 80's parties in the last few years. We have ENTIRE getups (one of mine described above - YES, I seriously own a pair of GOLD LAME PANTS). I keep telling him we need to label these things "80's Costume" so that if something happens to us people don't come into our closet and think we REALLY wear this stuff on an everyday basis. Anyway, hubby has Black Parachute Pants, Black Skinny Tie (worn w/ a colllar up red polo and tied loose), HIDEIOUS white/red/black high top tennis shoes AND a Black Members Only Jacket .
A good friends 17 year old borrowed dh's outfit for a party. He LOVED the tennis shoes and Members Only Jacket. I still had the one I bought online that ended up being a dark grey and gave it to him. Told him to wear it to school and start a "new" trend. Also told him he would be the "last member"

I wondered what happened when I called that number and I got the Dallas Humane Society! LOL! We really thought all that looked good back then didn't we? Before I joined the Air Force, I went through my Def Leppard phase. The British flag sleeveless t-shirt, leather pants, boots with chains on them, bandana tied around the leg, Van Halen necklace, spiked wrist bands and, yes, I got my hair permed. I was styling! hehe My kids crack up when they see those old pics.

OMY! This sounds like my husband. The hair perm was BAD!!! Thank goodness I was not his girlfriend during that phase (I was before and after).
But guess what is now in your local dept store jr girls dept: COLORED JEANS! And my daughter wants a pair. I looked at her and said, "honey, listen to me. You might think they are "cool" now but trust me..... you will regret you ever wore such later. Remember, I told you daddy had a pair of RED parachute pants. Cool then.......not so cool now."
Oh, and my daughter found a pic of me when I was early 20's. She was like, "YOUR WEARING SOFIE SHORTS!" We did not call them that back then. BUT, mine were high waisted and grey. Sitting in a beach chair at the lake wearing these short shorts that were super high waisted and a lime green bandau bikini top. YIKES! I was super skinny too with shoulder blades sticking out and all. She now believes us that mom really was SUPER SKINNY at one point.

The metallic stretch pants are back as well. Black seems to be the popular color, but I have seen gold, silver, and red.
I see a lot of the 80's fashion coming back right now. I think it's because anyone who is a teen now was not around in the 80's, so to them it seems cool. Anyone who lived through it the first time, does not want to repeat it again.

But have you seen ME in MY GOLD LAME stretch pants????
HOT MAMA!!!!
I keep telling dh when we are dressed up like this we need to stop and go into the store or something just to see what reaction we get. LOL!!!
Sweater dresses. UGH (and yes, my daugher wants these as well)
Polyester button up tops w/ ruffles and high collars
Stretch pants (and stirrups better NOT come back into style)
Metallics for sure
Bangle bracelets
rounded toe shoes
Yes, they are coming back around. Darn. Shoulda kept all that stuff. I could have saved a ton of money by letting her think it was all new stuff I went out and bought her.
