Anyone remember the annual Sale Street Fair? That seemed so sophisticated back then.
I worked at HP Cassidys for 2 nights...yeah that was me in those short polyester shorts! We loved going to HP's on Sunday Dallas Cowboy games...everytime they scored a touchdown, you received a free tequila shoot!

And Pink eye shadow

Y'all will LOVE this. Hubby and I have been to MANY 80's parties in the last few years. We have ENTIRE getups (one of mine described above - YES, I seriously own a pair of GOLD LAME PANTS). I keep telling him we need to label these things "80's Costume" so that if something happens to us people don't come into our closet and think we REALLY wear this stuff on an everyday basis. Anyway, hubby has Black Parachute Pants, Black Skinny Tie (worn w/ a colllar up red polo and tied loose), HIDEIOUS white/red/black high top tennis shoes AND a Black Members Only Jacket.

A good friends 17 year old borrowed dh's outfit for a party. He LOVED the tennis shoes and Members Only Jacket. I still had the one I bought online that ended up being a dark grey and gave it to him. Told him to wear it to school and start a "new" trend. Also told him he would be the "last member"

Ohhh, we are going to need pictures. I am sure you have pictures taken of you at one of these parties.

Bichon now that's when I should have been there. I can almost hear Donna Summer in the background.

Old Town was really a place you would see a lot of Cowboys back in the 70s. The Cowboy building was on Yale and the practice field was on Forest. I went to Old Town Barbers and would see them there - also I saw Drew Pearson many times at Zak's sub shop across the street. But the highlight was Too-Tall and Harvey Martin with their entourage of ladies later on at Confetti. Harvey had to be the nicest person on the planet. Of course Cliff Harris and especially Charlie Waters just seemed (and still do) like one of the guys when you talk to them.

It's just so sad when you compare the classy Cowboys of those days to ones they have today. Thanks, Smiley Jones.

I would go to Myatt's Pharmacy, which was in the same shopping center as Next Door, at Kingsley @ Audelia. They had a coffee shop/grill at the back part of the pharmacy. Bob Lilly frequented that coffee shop for a quick lunch, a lot.

Lakewooder - if you remember dancing at HP with a guy with long blonde hair who tended to do a questionable Mick Jagger imitation on the dance floor .... well ... that just might have been me

For a blast from the distant past take a look at Central expressway in 1959
Looking south..that building you see near top of pic on side of Central is the Meadows Building, which is still there today...thats down around Lovers Lane. That overpass at the bottom of the pic....thats WALNUT HILL LANE! Park Lane is the next overpass and then the cloverleaf overpass is NORTHWEST HIGHWAY!

Remember these?-us75_central_walnut_hill_looking_south_2_1959.jpg

A friend sent it to me via email, not sure of it's origins, but it appears to be a newspaper clipping.
Sorry about your keyboard, I was responding to the screen name Lakewooder - see previous posts.

Well I wasn't INTO long hair! But The Stones fer sure! The "Some Girls" album was our fraternity soundtrack.

I posted earlier about a girl I danced with at Cafe Dallas (also in Old Town) who asked me who my favorite mass murderer was...I told her Richard Speck (she was a nurse).
