Do any of you remember York Steak House?? It used to be a fixture in Arlington in the 1970s, but I'm not sure if there were any locations in the city of Dallas at the time. And they had commercials on TV, so apparently, it was a small chain.

How about Roscoe's Whites Corral on Mockingbird, near the original Gordo's pizza joint and close to Mrs. Baird's bakery, in the 1950's and 60's? Also, the Joker Bar next to the Wilshire theatre on Mockingbird? What about Pop's Spaghetti House on Gaston between the Charco Broiler and Baylor Hospital, in the late 1950's? The White Rock Terrace supper club on Lawther Dr. at NW Highway back in the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Later became a strip joint.

Wasn't the Prohibition Room underneath the STARCK Club? When I worked at the second STARCK from 96-98, there was the remains of a bar and we called it the Prohibition Room. Is that the same one?

It was underneath but to the north -- was all brick - had something to do with the well in Newport's I think...anyhow the Prohibition Room was impossibly preppie whereas the Starck was not preppie but had some preppie people in it...

Heres one...The Carousel Lounge owned by Jack Ruby. Never went there when open but I boxed for the Dallas Police Association in the third grade and we used the Carousel to practice in.

The room I am referring to was on the south side, with a door that faced McKinney. When I worked there we had access to it, what a mess it was. It had these maze of hallways that eventually ended up around Newports. Kinda kool yet spooky at the same time.

yes, i believe the door to the Prohibition Room was on the south side of the building. Another bar in the area was Callaghans (Irish Pub). Does anyone remember this?

Maybe you are right, I think I was 'turned around' -- imagine that in the 1980s! Don't remember the pub but remember The Boiler Room across in the West End. It had a 2-3 year great run.

Yes, the boiler room. It seems there were several bars in the W.E. Marketplace.(Dallas Alley) ..Froggy Bottoms, Boiler, and that piano bar. Can't remember any others at the moment.
