Casa Linda boy is on a distinguished road
Was in the Carousel a few times, circa 1960-61. A former high school teacher worked there as a part time job and remembered me from a couple of years earlier. He refused to cash a check for me because he said the 'champagne' ladies only wanted my money (duh). They had a live band playing music for the strippers and a comedian between acts. One of three similar joints in downtown at the time, the Theatre Lounge and Colony Club being the other two.

We always clamored to get our school supplies at Skillern's. They would give you a free ice cream treat at the fountain afterwards.

Case, where was this steakhouse located? I lived in Arlington and don't recall this steakhouse for some reason, now I'm curious.

Some guys I knew did some work on Warren Culbertson's house. I remember them talking about what a nic man he was. He came out, offered them something to drink, then hung around and talked with them for the longest.

Remember "Hannah's Pies" on Springvalley & Central? I was over at my mothers washing dishes on Thanksgiving and one of the pie tins had Hannahs logo. What a treat going to Hannahs Pies was growing up in the 70's!

Remember TG&Y's dime store at Belt Line and Coit or Hubbard's Cafeteria that was in the same strip mall?

For me it was M&E Moses dime store in Farmers Branch...they had a soda fountain where you could get homemade pies and some of the best grilled cheese sandwiches and fries. My friends and I would walk 2 or 3 miles to go shopping and eat. Believe it or not we were not much older than 9. We thought we were so cool and the ladies behind the counter would really treat us like queens. Back then you didn't have to worry about your children and their safety as much as we do today.
