Default The Scoop on Lake Highlands

I need the scoop on Lake Highlands--is it a desirable place to live? What are the schools (public) like? community atmosphere? affordable homes? also, what are the boundaries of LH? Thanks!

Desireable place: Depends on the parts of LH. In general, I think so.
Affordable homes: LH has homes from the mid $100s to 1M+.
Boundaries: Not exactly defined. One (disputed, esp. by Lakewooder) map is here: Lake Highlands Area Improvement Association

In general, you want to stay south of Forrest and don't get too close to I-635 on the more Eastern parts of LH.

There are several of us Lake Highlanders on the forum. I know my specific area pretty well, and the areas my wife and I researched. We bought near Walnut Hill between Abrams and Skillman.

At Walnut Hill and Skillman, there are three apartment complexes (one north, two south of Walnut Hill) that have been bought by a developer. They are going to build what they're calling the Lake Highlands Town center - basically, a mixed use facility which includes a DART rail station. It should help spark additional redevelopment along the Skillman corridor.
