ok ok I think I'm convinced that the original stats on the home appreciation was misleading at thel east. All three areas are out for us! Thanks everyone

Ovilla is actually very nice. I don't even consider Wilmer Hutchins as being part of the same area. Most of Ovilla is Midlothian schools which are very good.
I wonder if it is actually appreciating that fast or if that is an average home price indicator? There are several new neighborhoods in Ovilla with huge houses.

Is there some major development there or is this just a glitch in the statistics?

I would like to say that it is not a glitch. There is major inndustry and thousands of jobs that are directly affecting land and home values. Do the research,!!!!

Is it due to the inland port? That would be really great for the area.

I would have to see some might big changes in Wilmer-Hutchins before I would consider moving there.
The schools were taken over by the state not once, but twice. Then, of course, you also have the speed traps. : )

Give It Time
Guys, you've got to give Wilmer and Hutchins some time. The Dallas Logistics Hub is the best thing to ever happen to that area, and it will take time to develop. They say it's going to be the next hot area, and I actually believe it. The I-45 corridor will eventually take better shape and, over time, we will all see a big difference. It's still ugly right now, but there are some improvements slowly being done, and if residents in the area take positive ownership and are open, those steps will take place. And the first McDonald's has finally made its way into that area, even if it is in a new gas station. Plus, east of Wilmer, there is unincorporated land, so more opportunities can take place there if the right developer or developers happen to come in with plans for new rooftops. For a long time, I've been wanting to see a new suburb get built out there, and those new rooftops will be needed to support any new retail to come, not to mention providing a place to live for those who plan to work at the Hub. Sooner or later, it's going to arrive.
By the way, here's a good site for you: www.dallaslogisticshub.com

That place is really hot. Should do for southern Dallas County and Ellis County what Alliance has done for northern Tarrant County and Denton County.
