Momof2 gave me the idea for this thread. Tell us about your favorite festivals around town. I think there are a lot of them but I don't know that many people know about them. And by around town, I mean in outlying areas, even towns a bit away, like Muenster.

Besides The Fair (which is really better than Oktoberfest in Munich -- unless you like to sing under a tent with 10,000 drunks) my favorite is the Greenville Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade. I also like the Easter Parade and Symphony at Lee Park.

West Fest Westfest - about the same distance-wise as Muenster, just the opposite direction. A fun Czech festival with good food and polka music coming up Labor Day weekend. Even if you don't make it for West Fest, you should stop in West for delicious kolaches on your way down I35.

I love the Lee park parade! I also love St. Patrick's day because I am Irish, but it is also the one day of the year where stroke survivors look like everyone else: wobbly, slurring their words, and drunk as all get out!

That looks cool! I wonder if I can drag my husband out in the heat?

Excellent! I definitely want to go. My all time favorite city is Prague.

Are you kidding?? That IS the fun of Oktoberfest in Munchen!! Viva l'Espana!

Mayfair in Fort Worth and Scarborough Faire (just to watch the people - what a hoot!) in Waxahachie.

Grapefest in Grapevine, September 14-16
Live music, crafts, lots of food, beer, and wine tastings from all of the local vineyards! Be sure and bring a designated driver! ;-)
