I'll tell you why people here usually change lanes without signaling.

It's because the D-BAGS in the other lane will move up to BLOCK YOU if you DO signal. I always signal, but I make sure to hit the accelerator at the same time so they CAN'T block me. It's so annoying.

1. I drive about 5 MPH higher than the speed limit on highways like 75. In the right lane or center. Some folks just plain love to tailgate, even though they can pass me to the left.
I just love to slow down and look at their pained faces when they realize they have to pass me.
2. I don't mind if someone turns in front of me from a side street, causing me to tap my brakes. If you were in such a hurry, then why do you go 10 MPH under the speed limit when I get behind you?
3. Going 45 in a 65 zone, and when I pass you, I see you're a teenage girl, TEXTING!
4. High speed weaving. No, not the craft.

#1 Woman using their vehicles as a beauty salon ever damn morning (get up a little earlier) HELLO that is NOT what the rearview mirror is for ladies
#2 Men shaving while driving (again get up a little earlier)
#3 Talking on the cell phone while driving
#4 Large trucks and buses using the fast lane (or aka the far left lane)
#5 The amount of un-insured drivers that think they own the road.
#6 Police pull you over on a side street and the offender just stops in the turning lane....WTF I would think you would need to pull off to a safe area

I'm sorry guys but I have to say it. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. If you can't take city driving take the bus or move to the country. Scared drivers cause so many problems on the city roads. They say older people start to go back to a child's mentality as they age. Well children can't drive so I'm guessing some of the poster on here should not be doing it either. I can not tell you how many times I see people going 30 in a 45 or 50 on the highways. It's crazy and scary. Most of the time they have a big dent in the rear of their car because most people would not think someone is going to go 40mph on the major highway.

They're both in the wrong as far as I'm concerned.

100% right there except the signaling part. I'm a reformed signaler.

IMO it's flatly safer to just change lanes unannounced. Just too many drivers with intent or not cut me off when I signal.

I'm one of those weirdos that will let you in if you have the courtesy to signal.

Yes, because letting other drivers know you are about to enter their lane is ridiculous?? WTF? I cant tell you how many almost-accidents I have seen because of this. You're also putting the fault directly on yourself in case of an accident. It's also a moving violation.

One more:

--Get rid of parent-taught drivers ed. Most parents don't make their kids do the entire program, or don't know how to drive themselves. Driving is a privilege, not a right, and should be earned properly.

If there a safe space to move into what's the problem?

It's just a measure of game theory.
