Head slap here: obey the law, and you don't get violations! Doh!

Sure, 5 mph over is a minor violation but most of DFW is getting very strict about school zones, with all this texting stuff.

I'd rather err on the side of caution in school zones than let everything go.

But then I'm absurd and insane, all at the same time. Hey, I'm multitasking!

BTW getme, misspelling is spelled this way. You're welcome for the spelling lesson.
Or, conversely, if the cops plan to write tickets, make them do so correctly. What does texting have to do with anything? Speeding is a "crime" designed to do nothing more than fill city coffers.

If OP doesn't have to pay because the cop screwed up, more power to him. That's HP's problem, not his. It is in no way dishonest to hold the state to it's responsibilities before forking over your hard-earned cash.

And I don't need spelling lessons, but thanks for letting me know I've irritated you.

You've not irritated me, getme. Oh, BTW, "it's responsibilities" should be "its responsibilities". It's is a contraction for it is. See this all the time in the Dallas Morning News so you've got good company. Sorry, I'm an old advertising copy editor.

Let's be buds. You can point out my mistakes too!

If the primary purpose for slowing people down in school zones was actually about safety and not revenue, the cops would be out in plain sight before the school zone begins to ensure people are slowing down before going through. The fact that they are almost always hiding and usually near the end of the school zone indicates that safety is only the secondary purpose of school zone speed enforcement.

No reasonable argument to make, so grammar attacks! Always fun!

Sorry I don't bother to proof my posts on a message board.

I've been accused of this on other boards. Probably send me to an early grave. It's just that the whole "it's" thingies drive me crazy. Don't get me started on too, to, two.

The English language, or what we call it here in America, is too stooooopid. I used to teach English to my mother-in-law's Mexican housekeeper. She would look at me like I had 4 heads at some of the stuff.

I'm a certified English teacher and editor on Law Review. I understand the difference, I simply choose not to worry about it on an Internet message board.

I'll give you all a heads up [even IF you are guilty] Don't pay the ticket just ignore it and it'll go away the Police and the courts are so screwed up that they'll never get around to you. SO jut ignore it.

NOW in the off chance they do catch up to you simply explain you forgot and the courts never notified you of it at all. REMEMBER Play dumb!!

Exactly!!

I got a speeding ticket 2 weeks ago in Richardson. The way these cops be hiding is more dangerous than me going over the speed limit. When people see them, they brake abruptly, which is very dangerous.
