With all things, perception, not reality, is what matters the most.

So true. What's the saying, "don't bother me with the facts!"

Not really, because I don't care. If you don't want your kid in PISD - well, don't let the door .......

I can surmise that, whatever the %ages are for PWSH, they would be lower for PSHS and PESH, due to their lower average income.

It's not as if the elite privates are creating more spaces to accomodate PISD kids. That's a zero-sum game. As such, there may be a few more Plano kids at Hockaday, Greenhill, etc., but it can't be significant (relative to 1500 kids in a PWSH graduating class), simply because of their limited size and the fact that they continue to primarily serve north Dallas.

So, from where I'm sitting, it seems that any significant increase in PWSH kids going private is coming from people sending their kids to JPII, Prestonwood, places like that.

Now, just what kind of kids are bailing on PISD? Are the top performing kids choosing these schools? Well, last year, JPII had 2 NMSF kids, and Prestonwood had 1. Plano Senior alone had 47. Hmm. Seems more like it IS the weaker students running scared from the PISD grinder.

As I posted several pages back, wake me up when the Asians with Ivy aspirations start abandoning PISD, not the rich white dads with average (or lower) kids.

The way many schools and districts are ranked (such as TAKS), it's based on the school's/district's ability to educate all kids, not just kids who have really motivated parents and/or gifted and talented kids. That's why it's hard for a comprehensive high school to get recognized or exemplary.

Rich parents can be a pain, but if so many rich parents leave, it could impact the school's fundraising abilities. One of the reasons why some urban schools do better than others is because rich parents can fundraise to cover things that the school district is not paying for.
