Default The Colony

I have found a place to live. The Colony which is close to frisco and Plano. I will be moving in next week. Does anyone have any feedback about that area on places to go? I will be close to aloha falls on 121 and paige. I am on the east side of paige. I would like any feedback on daycares in the area, schools, shopping and eating out.

Can't help with the daycare as it's been many years since I needed their services. Which schools will your kid(s) be attending?

As far as shopping, the retail in town is very limited. But, you can go approx. 5 miles east on 121 to Stonebriar, 5 miles west on 121 to Vista Ridge Mall, or 5 miles south on Paige to Willowbend. Very centrally located to lots of shopping.

For in-town restaurants, you can't go wrong with either Angelina's (Tex-Mex)or Stan's (beer & burgers). They're right off of Main Street (FM 423) with great views of the lake. Mi Casa is also great for Mexican food. Roma's, Amore, and Tony's are good for Italian. I've never tried it, but some people rave about the sushi at Japango.

Thanks for the feedback so far. My Son is currently only 2 so he is not ready to attend schools I was trying to get information as I have looked at reports and they seem good but I would rather have opions from people that send their kids there. I am unsure of what school since it will bee another 4 years untill he is ready for that.

I don't have any personal experience with it, but I have heard that Lakeside Montessori is excellent for daycare/preschool

Personally, I thought the schools were fine and were certainly challenging enough (my kids were all in the gifted & talented program called LEAP). All the schools are pretty socioeconomically diverse, which is a plus in my book. They're part of the Lewisville ISD that also includes Flower Mound, Highland Village, parts of Carrollton, and maybe other places. I think the particular area you're moving to feeds into Morningside Elementary, which IMO is the best elementary in The Colony. The only one I'd have reservations about off the top of my head would be Peter's Colony Elementary.

Your best bet would be to visit The Colony Texas Community Website Discussion Forums - InTheColony.com and ask your questions there. You'll probably get lots of responses from people with personal experience in all the schools/daycare.

Yes, Frisco is very near, but there are lots of little Mom and Pops around here, a Home Depot and a Walmart.

First United Methodist Church in Carrollton just south from the Colony not far at all offers an excellent program for daycare. I've had friends that love them.

Prestonwood Baptist also offers preschool/daycare if my memory serves me correct. Also located just south of the Colony on Hebron. More Carrollton/Plano direction.
