Default ESPN.com "Highland Park Overwhelms Woodrow Wilson" in 4A playoffs

In a highly anticipated match-up of two nearly 100 year old Dallas high schools, the Highland Park Scots defeated the Woodrow Wilson Wildcats 49-24 last night. The first half was a close game and then HP blew the lead open after halftime and the Wildcats never caught up.

HP will face Tyler John Tyler at Waco ISD stadium next Friday in the 4A semifinals.

Maybe next year, Lakewooder!

And HP 2005 graduate Matthew Stafford is having a break-out season with the 6-3 Detroit Lions. The 2009 #1 pick in the NFL draft continues to lead the Lions in their best season in years.

They may have won but they have the worst attitude and the less fairplay in the area. We played against them last week in the first play off ,and we could not believe it , one of the big insulte came as they played for their crowd , turning their back on us , we were the home team , they should have face us , it is unseen for a team around here to do things like that . And I' m not even starting on the parent's attitude , a lot of them showed little class in the name of sport.
It was not expected as we never encounter that type of behavior , we were not a threat for them , they were going to win anyway , we still could not believe we got so far this year.....lol
It didn't help in the image that people have of Highland Park.

I don't know where you're from, but the band ALWAYS faces their own team in a high school football game. I can't ever remember a game at Highlander Stadium where the away team "played" for the Scot's home side. Ever. And I can remember dancing (drill team) facing the Scot's fans when we had the "away" side of neutral high school playoffs.

Sorry HP beat your team by over 40 points. Did you think Coach Allen was guilty of running up the score?

Well obviously the other teams follow other set of rules as a sign of respect we always play and all the other teams we play against do play in front of the home team . Even the band director couldn't believe it . My son is in band and I'm a chaperonne , so I get to see most games , it was a first for me and others as well.
Don't worry , we knew before that we were going to loose ,as I said earlier we couldn't believe we were going to the play off , so they were no hard feeling against the team , absolutly none , the coach even decided to send some of the worst players to let them have some play time , so it's not like we were thinking we had a chance .
But it doesn't excuse the others attitudes , especially from parents , we never had any issues with any other team , even with our biggest school rival Centennial, the atmosphere is usually very cheerful . It was a first as well.
The only thing we really did enjoyed was the drill team , it is unded one of the best I have seen , we definitely cheered for them .

I can see the kids talking smack because, well, they're kids. Kids talk trash. But exactly what would the parents be saying? (my AP english teacher would cringe) It's not like it's the midwest with parents drinking PBR smoking Lucky Strikes.

I remember my lacrosse team calling the local public school all sorts of crap which is like St. Mark's kids ripping on Highland Park High kids, so it's more an issue of kids being silly, stupid, whatever. Although the public school kids did mimic our dress code - L.L. Bean khakis, oxfords and moccasins for some strange reason.

As for the band- we had no band- so I have no idea what passes as a 'band diss'.

I took my boys to Mooyah on NW Hwy a few weeks ago and saw this tool who was wearing too-tight jeans with a Scots sweatshirt on and an HP hat (this is a grown ass man) and his daughters all wearing some kind of HP or Scots insignia/clothing. I can see how that kind of flaunting could get old. The parents probably weren't doing anything other than being proud to live in HP/UP and celebrating the victory, and the natural reaction to Park Cities flaunting is to think you're being a DB.

A few hmmm grown-ups at my gym still rock their 'HP' tshirts and sweats and caps. It's crossing the bridge from school pride to creepy. But there is a cool Porsche Cayenne which has the 'Porsche' logo pulled off the back and a big chromed out 'HP' decal.

Now grown men in Abercrombie...
