New York Subs has been in Denton for ages, and is really good!

I've driven by this place a few times and want to try it. I need a sandwich now! I don't know if they're a chain or not (I don't think they are) and I'm like you, I like non chain deli sandwiches. I'll post up if I try them soon.

I like Lenny's. It is a chain, but locations are few in DFW. A philly-style sub shop that slices your meat to order. Sign up for their e-club thing and they mail you free drink and chip coupons every month, practically

We're new in this area, and we rely on Yelp! It's pretty reliable......sometimes we disagree with other people's reviews but it's nice when you just don't know where the nearest Indian food is and you've got a hankerin' for some Chicken Tikka Masala.

I fell in love with Lenny's (there was one by my office for a while) because it reminded me of the also-mentioned New York Sub (which was not by my office). If I had the choice, I'd pick NY Sub.
