Two problems for the OP, though. First, he'd have to accept living in a larger house for less cost. Second, his kid would definitely have to "crank it out" on a standardized test. I'm not getting the objection to that. It's a bit much to expect a district to accept a parent's certainly-biased assessment of his/her kid's abilities.
i think he could do a math assessment/achievement test. but he won't sit through OLSAT. it's just not the way he's made. he just doesn't give a crap. but i am going to keep my fingers crossed that he proves me wrong.

Don't sell your child short. My children have taken those tests annually from kindergarten through eighth grade and always found the OLSAT/COGAT much more interesting than Stanford/ITBS because the questions on the OLSAT and COGAT are more like logic puzzles, which they enjoy solving.
