I'd recommend looking at some of the privately-owned condos along Turtle Creek. I rented in one for four years (same unit) and was very, very happy.

Could you point me towards some specific names?

You can go up north just 5 miles to Preston Hollow. Behind the pink wall
Lots of condos... 1400 could get you more square footage than in uptown...
You would still be close to uptown, Northpark and other entertainment.

Meh.. 5 miles from Uptown is too far for my liking. I'd like to be within a walkable distance.. so even if it's a 10-minute walk, that would be fine.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

I rented in the Renaissance on Turtle Creek, which would probably be most in line with your budget. I really enjoyed the finish out of my unit and the amenities the building offered. It was really quiet too, if that's important to you. Also literally right across the street from the Katy Trail and just a quick walk up Hall Street to McKinney Ave.

Other options (disregarding price): the Mayfair, the Vendome, 3525 Turtle Creek, 3381 (I think that's the address?) Turtle Creek, and the apartments on Welborn St. (unsure of its name).

wow, the renaissance seems very nice.. too bad it's all sold out though! those other places you mentioned (including the renaissance), they're all condos, no? do people usually rent out condos?

a quick google search of all these places show actual condos for sale and not rent.. :/

Get your Realtor to look up "for lease" listings in the MLS. I just did so and found 8 active listings at 3225 TC. They range from $1000 to $2050, with the majority being at or below $1500. FYI, this is a huge property containing over 600 condos in 3 buildings, so there is always something available for lease. It's got a great location on beautiful Turtle Creek Blvd.

Yeah. I didn't own my condo—I rented it.
